12 volt fan for van

Anybody have some recommendations. Endless Breeze and Sirocco all around $150 to $160. Why does 12 volt seem to increase the cost? We have plenty of 12 volt van points and would probably have a relocatable fan.

Just installed a Caframo Sirocco this morning, $150 from Whitworths.

Seems to be well made (in China) uses very little power, about .05 amp on high speed, easy install and does exactly what it's meant to do, so far so good.

12 volt appliances of this nature are dearer because they are manufacturing for a relatively small market, economy of scale.

Whatever suits your needs and budget, like a previous post I bought a Caframo Sirrocco to move cool air from the aircon around the living area of my motorhome. It will also be used as a normal fan when it's not so hot and the aircon is off. Yes a little expensive but it suited. For me it was the colour (White) and it's design and features and being 12 volt which made me buy this fan. I also use a 12 volt dash mounted fan (Black) when I am driving, that was only $29 and does the job it was bought for.

Whatever suits you.

We purchased a Sirocco and had it installed when the van was being built.  We found that it was cheaper to buy it from U.S.A  Even with the postage it was cheaper.  About $125.

We find its great especially when we are free camping.  Sometimes you don't need the A/C.  Just a bit of air movement in the van is enough.

Question???
If you are running an Air-con that takes 240 volt why would you spend 200+ bucks on a plastic 12 volt fan when you are on mains power . I spent $13 on an oscillating fan Perhaps I'm just dumb, coz I don't get it.

.. I've purchased 2 Caframo fans in the past because of their silent and low amp running capacity .. unfortunately both have failed me .. one had problems with a fan blade instability and the other had its power line running through the framework and after a while that just wore through due to the oscillating movement ..

Just running cheapies now ..

I have a Colman mack rooftop A/c fitted to my MH 240v of course.I have a 1000w inverter fitted direct to 2X100ahr house batteries and have made a lead to plug the inverter into the power inlet of the van (probably not legal as inverter only has 10a plug) this allows me to use all powerpoints in the van. It will not run the A/C or micro wave of course however it will run the A/C fan only and circulates air quite well. I also carry a cheap 240v desk osilating desk fan that I use direct from inverter if not fully set up ie: short stops. If I really need A/C or heating I go to caravan park or get out the generator. I dont run the a/c fan overnight because I find it too noisy inside the van not outside.First time i used this system it caught me as I have auto battery charger and was using the batteries to charg themselves. I now turn off the isolator for charging and make sure the fridge is turned off of auto so it runs on gas.

I broke mine the first trip out. Son wasn't happy Jan. Apparently I twisted the multi directional bit too much an broke the wiring. He was able to fix it but just be aware this can happen.
