Braidwood Freecamp not vandalised

On Feb 23rd there was a thread posted to say the freecamp was vandalised (the loos gunned down). I have visited the said ladies long drop and my husband has visited the men's - and I could not see a bullet hole in sight. I spoke to one lady who has been here since December and she says there has been no vandalism since she has been here. So I am pleased to report that all those who thought a lovely spot had been ruined, it hasn't. We have spent a lovely afternoon having a chat with friends and watching the sun go down. Lovely spot to camp. Warri Reserve on the Shoalhaven River west of Braidwood. about 15 vans here tonight.

What would somebody get out of posting a untruth post, does he not think one of us would not drop in there, and report back the condition of the toilets ???

I don't know the area and have never been there, so am just asking the question, is it possible that Ozi2 confused it with another nearby area?

Here is the original thread started by Ozi2;

That is great news NeilnRuth. I wonder how the rumour got started in the first place.

So glad to hear it! This is one of my favourite stopover stops driving from the coast to Canberra. Thanks for the news.

Just more proof that you can't take everything you read on the internet as the gospel truth and that there are usually 2 or more sides to a story.

Hi we have two sites at Braidwood.

One is Majors Creek Recreation Reserve and the other Deua NP

I have neither on my list of recommended and was wondering which one we are talking bout as I dont have the camp five spots so I use the camps 6 list.

Regards
Brian

Hi HW, it isnt a rumour, its a fact. The problem is there are 2 camps and the post outlined the vandalisation at camp 693 as marked in camps 5. I stand by my comments.

cheers

Hi Gordon, its more than 2 sides to the story, its a case of 2 different camps near Braidwood; but I specifically mentioned camp 693 camps 5.

cheers

In Camps 6, theres actually 4 spots near Braidwood, Warri reserve where NeilnRuth were is #696. The numbers arent always the same in the different issues of CAW, #693 is Lowden Forest Park, SW of Braidwood.... is that the one Ozi2?

Hi Guys, unfortunately you have misread my post but I have broad shoulders. I made the comment that it refers to freecamp site number 693 in camps 5. You have posted comments based on site 694 which is a second freecamp nearby to Braidwood.

In the interests of posting fair and accurate posts for members it would be polite to acknowledge your error.

Hi Gerty, camp 693 (camps 5) is Bombay reserve, 9km West of Braidwood, via Cooma Rd.

In Camps 5, 694  is Warri reserve. I intentionally mentioned the camps 5 issue number to avoid misleading forum members and still it happened, leading to another incorrect post by NeilRuth.

cheers

Thanks Ozi2, sorry! I was confused, not having the camps5, and going on the description of it being on the Shoalhaven.
Lesson learned, use the camp name as well as CAW # and edition.

My apologies to ozi2 for not getting the same freecamp but when different Camps books have different nos and you didn't actually mention the name of the freecamp in your original post I assumed it was Warri Reserve which fitted the description you gave. I'm still pleased to note that Warri Reserve has not been vandalised and sorry to hear that Bombay Reserve has been.
