Met a few GN's

Today I met a few GN's for morning tea at Bulimba in Brisbane. We had a lovely chat, even though the traffic hindered my hearing ability.

What a nice bunch of people! Thanks Monica (extreme potato), Karen & Gary (Rocket & Strop) and my good friend Carol (CnV).

Fantastic Beth. Thank goodness even with all the horrible weather you were still able to meet up.

Glad you had a lovely Morning Tea meet-up Beth.   Sounds as though you're feeling better thank goodness.

Cheers,

Sheba.

The weather was kind to us today. The sun was out, a little cloudy, with a gusty wind blowing. We were sheltered from the wind, but this particular Coffee Club was right on busy Oxford St Bulimba. It wasn't the most pleasant place to meet, but the company was good anyway.

Yes thanks Sheba, slowly getting some energy back.

Energy is what I need badly at the moment.  Have to push myself to get out of bed lately.  Not a good feeling, but I'll get there.

Going to see a different Doc. next week.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Do they still have a brewery at Bulimba?   About 50 years ago when living in PNG, we had large bottles of beer in our canteen from Bulimba called "Bulimba Gold Top" because the beer caps were a gold colour.....It was a nice drop too, just wondered if they are still making it there.

Toowoomba also had a brewery and made a beer called three ex (XXX) as opposed to four ex (XXXX) but that is long gone.

No Brewery in Bulimba these days, a very yuppy suburb these days, but a lovely little pocket tucked away from the maddening crowd. XXXX brewery is in Milton, not far from the Stadium. Use to work at Wotif.com which was situated across the railway from them, and oh boy the day the wind blew in the right or wrong direction and we got the whiff of the hops brewing, not good at all.

The original Bulimba brewery was located beside the northern approach to the Story Bridge. I don't believe it was ever located at Bulimba.

Thanks for the feedback Sharon and Doug, it was a very nice drop and I enjoyed it at many "happy hours".biggrin

The three X (XXX) at Toowoomba on the other hand had a kick like a mule, must have had a very high alcohol content.hmm

Four X (XXXX) is very popular over here in the West, along with others.  Has it's own following.smile

Sounds like you know quite a bit about breweries Duh. biggrin

Fireheart, I used to go out with a bloke who worked at XXXX there at Milton. He was a reformed alcoholic of 10 years. I don't know if the company still does it, but they used to give the emplyees a 'slab' each week. No wonder he became an alcoholic! By the way, it's a pity you weren't here for our morning tea, and a trip down memory lane. smile

Douglas, I haven't seen your name come up before, but I see you're a Brisbanite too. You should have joined out cuppa group yesterday. We'll do it again somewhere along the line, so keep your eye on 'get togethers'.

Sheba, I'll email you.

Yes, she was very sad to have missed it, but she's done her knee again, so can't drive anywhere. I'm going to take a drive up to visit her sometime this week. She must be going stir crazy.
