First time query. Sign for back of van - "Do Not Overtake Turning Vehicle.
Been told that such a sign has some legal benefits for taking a wide "Left" turn and requdiring going into the right lane. Is this correct? Anybody know the motor reg branch rules for vic?
Welcome to the forum from us cobberandco. There have been posts on this subject so do a search (at top of page) and see if you can find them. Sorry we don't know Vic. rules.
Welcome cobberandco, enjoy here and out in the playground.
Grab yourself a copy of 'The National CARAVAN and recreational vehicle TOWING GUIDE'. Produced by the caravan and camping industry....Edition 5. It has all the info you will ever need.
Quickly though and to quote from said book "ONLY vehicles with an overall length of 7.5 mts or longer are permitted to display a DO NOT OVERTAKE TURNING VEHICLE sign" unquote.
I am not an expert, only letting you know what I was only reading today and about the book.

I enquired into this before fitting the sign in nsw, as stated is true but the one thin that was stipulated is that the sighn MUST be on the left hand side ONLY.
Many ignore this & stick them full width accross the back, this can bring you a fine.
Have a look at trucks, yes they have two reflective sighns, one each side & its only the left that has the wording on it.
These trucks are check constantly for verious reasons, ifwe could have the wording on both sides then these trucks would have it for sure.
Many choose to ignore this, thats their ignorance of the rules.
JC.
