We used the ones with holes in them. Never noticed a mud issue off hand, and anyway, if there is that much mud it will get on a mat no matter what you do. I guess we really never thought 'should we have gotten solid ones' once we were on the road. I got them as they were a little lighter plus easy to hang up anywhere and maybe a little better for the grass underneath.
We liked the blue ones ourselves but it's all a matter of taste.
Oh! and as Jules said, the side with the pattern doesn't seem to be slippery
Cheers
Jon

G'Day, Heading off next week again and want to get some of the above.
Now they come either with holes or without holes. I understand that with holes when used on soft wet muddy ground they will pump the mud up. The solid ones don't do this but do they get slippery or whatever??? Any particular colour?
I like the solid ones - because of the mud issue - they have a pattern on one side so don't get slippery. Colour - whatever take syour fancy really, just not the ones with the alphabet on them - not a good look next to your van Denis.

We Use a matting kind of thing, brought it at a camping expo years ago.but i know a lot of people use the shade mesh that you can get from Bunnings, When it is wet and muddy we pop some of the rubber lock together mat thingos .We have the ones that do not have holes in them ,never had a problem re slipping or slidding. The ground mat thingo we have is light easy to wash and drys in a few mins . Also takes no space to roll up when on the move , we use it to protect the floor in the back of the crusier when we are in transit.
We use one of those interlocking ones in our shower at home to avoid slipping, have a cord on it and hang it on our taps after the shower.
Also have a couple of those smaller ones (one each), use them at CP's for the shower to save standing on those grotty floors.....
What a good idea about useing them for the van park shower floors, see you learn some thing every day.Off to Bunning tomorrow after work to get two more.I will wrie in texta on each one ,,HIS and Hers.
thank you once again , we have always just used rubber thongs when in the shower, but it is a pain in the butt, as walking back to the van in wet thongs is not easy some times .We also use a plastic hook thingo we got from one of those $2 shops to hang over the door in the shower ,to hang our gear on ,as most shower cubicals in c/ parks are not designed to undress or redress ,If you are lucky you might get one hook to hang every thing on.We have a shower in our van, but the park owner dosen't like us long term vaners useing our own shower .So we have to keep him happy and go with what he say's ,at least we are not paying $600 per week here , like we have to pay up in some of the places in the Pilbra. One place a few years back also made us all pay $12 per day if we had a air con fitted.I defy anyone trying to survive living in any thing up that way with out some kind of air con in the summer.
Just be careful what brand you buy. The different brands don't always clip together so that in the future if you want to get some more and extend you need the same brand. We found this out from experience. We now have the ones from Kmart because we figure there are plenty of Kmart stores around the country if we want more.

Thank you for that hint i just rubbed out Bunning and wrote K mart on my note....must be getting old needing notes???? but some times i even forget where i have put the note'
Thanks for all the replies - we'll try the Kmart ones first with holes in them as there seem to be some advantages with them. As always, plenty of helpful comments and suggestions. Thanks.
IF you have room to store them, get 2 sets, one with holes and one without. We use the holey ones cos they drain well in the shower tent, also the ones without holes under the tent floor... you can use em all clipped together, or as many as you want.
