Beautiful sunset at Stanley

We are at Stanley, Tasmania, camped on Godfreys Beach- beautiful spot - short walk into town.  Last evening the setting sun put on a show for us - and we were all saying how great the next day would be, given the old sailor's adage of red sky at night, etc.

Don't know what happened, but it is raining and has been for half the night - so here we sit - in our motorhomes and caravans - hope it stops soon - doesn't look like it at the moment though!!

We are on the downward part of our journey now - heading back to the mainland on the 8th March (boohoo) - met some wonderful people over here, locals and travellers - the locals, in general, are so friendly - we have been supplied with abalone, squid, flathead, bream, oysters, when camped. Amazed at how many people from the mainland have moved over here to live, and love it!!!! I think they like the absolutely perfect woodstacks most of all!!!!

Turn a corner and there is a new and beautiful piece of scenery - hard to pick a favourite from all the places we have been - though Cradle Mountain with snow on it was a real standout! But then again - Bruny Island and the Yellow Boat Tour was spectacular!!

If you haven't been down here - make your plans - it is a wonderful place (couldn't live here though - don't like the cold).

No sarg - don't like trout - in fact don't like freshwater fish much at all - much prefer salt water fish - flathead etc - Deloraine is a lovely little town - and the White House Bakery at nearby Westbury is wonderful - pies to die for, beautiful bread and much more - they use a 100 year old woodfired oven!!

Trout's pretty good if it's smoked. But the more I hear about Tassie the more I like the sound of the place. I'd like to spend several months there and have a really good look around.

You need several months - we have been here for four months - probably places we haven't been, but we have been to the places we wanted to go - and still have about two weeks to go - we are with some people here, who have been here for 14 months - they did a house sit for a while, but they love theplace. So friendly and welcoming, and the towns are wonderful, little villages with so much history - fishing folk who share their food and info. So glad we came.
