Hi all: I have recently bought a goldstream saphire 2001 model. It has a 12v transformer to charge batteries and supply power to the 12v lights. It does not have 240v lighting. I dont like the transformer it does not have any sort of regulation on it.
I have 2 *100 agm batteries and want to fit 2*200watt solar panels so I looking for a smart charger that can handle this set up. Just asking what you would recommend and what other set up people have.
CTek have some charger models that are suitable for your needs,I'm not sure of the exact model but a google search should give you the info you need.
There are other brands but I have used CTek chargers in my MH with good results. The model I have is on 24 /7 and has a supply setting to run my fridge.
I have a Projecta Pro Charge charger for my two 105AH AGM's and it works fine. It can be set for the various battery types (AGM, lead acid, calcium), can be set for 8A or 16A and has a 'Rejuvenate' mode. It is not permanently wired in, but easily connects with 45A Anderson PowerPole connecters (www.andersonpower.com.au), which are a mini version of Anderson plugs. I have no affiliation with the firm, an amateur radio enthusiast friend put me onto them.
G'day Having just gone through the process of upgrading wiring for anderson and brakes and fridge etc the auto electrician upgraded the 2 battery system on ute with a smart input regulator that is able to transfer power from the main battery. So when I am hooked up and the ignition on the fridge will run, ignition off the fridge converts to inhouse batteries in van, the anderson wiring comes from the 2nd battery in ute, runs through heavy wiring to a smart charger the boost charges the batteries in van. The auto elec said all vans should be wired this way to minimize risk and damage.
It seems to be working fine, time will tell I suppose
