Having finished watching " the most exotic marigold hotel" for the second time, my thoughts turned to my bucket list. Mine include travelling this wonderful country, seeing NYC, WashingtonDC, Canada, Tuscany, seeing a white Christmas before I die, and then the things that I have crossed off, like a balloon ride, gliding, and the privilege of seeing parts of the world I had no idea about.
So my question is, what's on your bucket list and has it been achieved or is it a pipe dream that is there for the pleasure of dreaming, or something you know absolutely that you will do it?

I think I am in the middle of achieving my bucket list .. not sure though 'cause I can't remember all of them .. hehe ..
Seriously though, I initially wanted to see my lads settled in to their own lifestyles .. thats done and gives me more time for myself to enjoy my two main interests which are flying model planes and singing .. Fortunately these are activities that I can practice and enjoy as an individual, but now finding that I've got a great many people sharing in my enjoyment and pushing me on ..
We all may have bucket lists as different as the next door neighbours .. and I hope that you all enjoy what you seek to achieve .. I'm happy with my lot as it is now !
The Driver's bucket list included travelling on the Ghan from Darwin to Adelaide; seeing Darwin in the storm season; going on a cruise; travelling South America. The last one ain't going to happen (health etc). The cruise might happen. Couple of years ago we combined the first two - rode the Ghan, saw lots of lightning and storms in Darwin - went through a cyclone (which wasn't on the bucket list!).
My bucket list now includes riding the Indian Pacific from Sydney to Perth; doing one of the specialist cruises of the Kimberley coast; visiting Vietnam; showing Driver Kakadu in wet season (which we didn't get to last time, due to cyclone). Who knows if any of it will happen?
My bucket list keeps growing, often faster than I can tick things off! I'm very happy with the long list that so far I have managed to tick off though. I'm not gonna stress about that list though, its nice to always have a dream to aspire to... what will we do when everything is ticked off and nothing more to do in life?
I opened a new bank account last week, calling it My Bucket List. As I said to the bank teller, Its for a new van but if I die first it will pay for my funeral. lol. When thats achieved I will make a new bucket list, which will mainly be travelling and seeing the beautiful country.
Funny... I hadn't thought about a list. All I wanna do is travel Oz and follow my nose. What happens along the way is anyone's guess. I like surprise endings. :)
I started a bucket list a few years ago during a health scare. A lot of the items were things to see and do that were achievable with my life style and abilities. The major ones achieved to date:
Catch a Coral Trout
catch a spanish mackerel
catch a gummy shark
retire early(not achieved yet but so close)
join the metre plus club on snapper
do a houseboat trip
Buy a caravan
Ones yet to be achieved:
See the native orchids in WA
see the kimberleys
eat at doyles seafood joint
overcome my fear of heights
find some where in australia that can make brazil's national drink
catch a Samson fish
be able to afford to catch a black marlin
sit and enjoy a sunset as far north as you get in oz
There were more achieved and a hell off lot more to be achieved. And not one was to win first division in tattslotto. Just $150K to retire with!

I fulfilled a few things on my mums bucket list after she died. Unfortunately she didn't get to do them so I did them for her. Fly to Perth and visit her bridesmaid and best friend (a very rewarding experience) apparently Gene will never be dead while I'm alive I was told. A compliment indeed, my mum was a wonderful woman.
I have done the bucket list like most and that's what set me off buying a van in the first place. Through circumstances I have travelled and lived and worked overseas(which I never thought I'd do). Seen many countries other than Oz which I am very pleased about, went on a cruise for my 50th. Visited every state and territory in this beautiful country but now I want to return and SEE them more leisurely and actually enjoy a lot more along the way. like Jonathan seeing my children settled into their lives and happy was a biggie and of course I will assist where I can when I'm needed but doing the things I enjoy with lovely people has been a real bonus. Thank you to all those I have met along the way and those I am still to meet. You all make my journey that much more enjoyable. Tess
My bucket list now includes riding the Indian Pacific from Sydney to Perth; doing one of the specialist cruises of the Kimberley coast;
I'm booked to do both of these, Will be on the Indian Pacific this Wednesday, then heading up to the Kimberley to do the cruise.
I am envious.........Hope you will write a detailed desciption of your travels on both of these?
Arrived in Perth right on time Saturday morning. Staying in Freo. The train trip was everything I expected and then some.
You really do get to see the Nullarbor Plain from the train, unlike the Eyre Hwy that only very briefly touches the Nullarbor near The Head Of The Bight.
Hey Boothie, a mate of mine caught a black marlin out of his $1500 sh boat on a $10 lure (the cheapest trolling lure in South West Rocks tackle store) on a $50 KMart rod/reel combo. It was a juvenile of about 1500mm and was very tasty on the barby...
