Just had a quick look at your site, D&S. Looks great. Bookmarked it for later, and will spend a bit of time there. I'm sure it'll whet my appetite while I'm waiting to get going on my "big lap".

    It's the locals who are affected most by it, if it happens widespread across Tassie, I've spoken to many locals and most are appalled at the cost of C/P's during high season, with a family it's horrendous, did you see my other post in regards what's happening at the moment? The CMCA have approached the competition regulator and things might be going to change, I hope so, I've missed Tassie, was coming down this year but decided to boycott until something gives, how long are you staying? lucky buggers!!!!

 No I'm not trying to reel you in I promise, I love Tassie and have been going down there each year for the last 20 years, I used to go down for Agfest for work every year and then fell in love with the place, so started going back for holidays, when I retired in 08', I went back for 3 months each year until 2011 and still haven't seen everything, it's just a lovely place to do what you said, who am I? where am I? where am I going? well who cares! you can go anywhere in a short length of time and until recently, you would be welcomed by all, I unfortunately had a run in with the owner of the caravan park at Gowrie park, near Sheffiled, he was one of the Park owners who took the government to court to do away with the free camps in Tassie, my brothers and I were staying at the free camp at O'Neill's creek when the park owner came and abused us for being freeloaders and bludgers on the hospitality of Tasmania, to that date my brothers and I had been in Tassie for less than 2 weeks, we had spent over $2500 in that time just not in caravan parks.

   I am a free camper, not a bludger, I just don't spend my money in caravan parks if I can help it, nor do I take directions from others on where to spend my money, hence the 2 x wives!!! I made a personal decision not to go to Tassie until things change down there in regards the caravan parks being a protected species, I still love the place and would'nt like anyone to miss such a lovely place, my apoligies for the rant, you will love the place, I still do and look forward to going back sometime in the near future.

 Hi Kevin - we are at O'Neill's at the moment - and took a walk up to the Gowrie Park CP yesterday, just to see what was there - bit of a dump really - have to walk about 250m up the driveway to get to the "office" - guy who cam e to door not very friendly - we weren't impressed at all - $28 for a powered site - and absolutely no different that down here at O'Neill's - plug into power - we have solar and a genny - have a shower - we have water and a shower - use the loo - we have one, and there is one here at the park - so what do we need a caravan park for, at that price???  If "free" or low cost camping is outlawed here in Tassy, the place will go broke!!!   Even the locals use the free camps - settle themselves in for a month at a time, have been doing so for 30 years or more some of them.  I am sure they would kick up a stink!
