This may be a bit of a girl question but I have had varying opinions on the answer. When van is stored at home is it best to leave the top up or down? Does it make any difference and why. I can use mine with the top down so I don't bother putting it up unless I'm staying in it for a while.
We've had apoptop for 11 years and due to height restrictions where we store it (under carport) we store it with poptop down - have had no problems. Yes, like you Tess, I can use it with the top down so doesn't bother me.
I was told by an old chap who has been in the caravan game for 30 years or so, "if you leave the roof down, DON'T lock it down with the 4 clips, as this will only compress the vinyl"
Make sense to me.
Just remember to lock down the clips before you head of on your next adventure !

Doing the clips up makes very little difference to the vinyl, but it may exacerbate the tendency for the rubber seals to stick to the van when stored for long periods in the sun. If stored under cover with enough height to keep the roof up then it's the better option as it reduces the pressure in the gas struts, stops the seals sticking and and improves air circulation in the van. If stored outside subject to the elements for extended an period, then roof down to protect the vinyl and clips undone to reduce pressure on the rubber seals. I also recommend that some talcum powder be used on the sealing surface where the rubber makes contact. Talcum reduces deteriation of the rubber and prevents sticking.
