Gulgong Showground

001.JPG

As we're about to hit the road full time within a month, I thought we should find out the details on our local showground.  Lovely spot, plenty of shade if wanted, quiet.  Mudgee used to be popular till it succumbed to CP pressure but this one is far nicer and only 30km away.  Gulgong is a great little town, very historical (occassionally hysterical) with one of the largest Pioneers Museums in Australia, the Henry Lawson museum and I believe the oldest functioning opera house in Oz.  Rates $15/night/van with power, $12 without.  This coming weekend 16th/17th though would be a good time to give it a miss as our local show is on.

A good place to stay if you want to visit the Mudgee wineries too .

Stayed there last June Oldboar and definitely would use it again. Spent 3 hours at the Pioneers Museum and also saw the Opera House and Henry lawson museum. Had a great time at the $2 shop too!

Three hours. I reckon you could spend three days there & still find things you hadn't seen before.

And to think the local CP charges $28/night! We couldn't find the showground - so hopefully we will next time.

Turn down Grevillea Street roughly halfway between the caravan park roundaboat & the BP servo, Neilnruth.  When were you there?

Last May, en route to Yeoval (for the Show) and then Nyngan and beyond to Yorke Peninsular in SA. I was only a new GN member then.

Just pulled to Gulgong Showground this morning for a few days .

We decided to come this way to miss the heavy rains coming down the NSW coast .

Haven't been here for quite a few years . Looking forward to having a look around again , and

tasting some good Mudgee red wine .
