Relief from bites - Rectinol haemorrhoid treatment

We all know there are many remedies for bites.  Well management found a new one when chatting to a fellow nomad on our last trip.  Rectinol haemorrhoidal ointment!  10 minutes ago I was bitten behind the knee by an ant it stung like mad.  Well a little drop of the ointment and no more pain.  When I was applying it I thought "well for all the good this is going to do I might as well stick it........ "  you get the drift i am sure lol

So even if we don't have 'piles' we take the piles ointment along! Well done. Good tip. I guess it's the 'anaesthetic' component.

lots of mozzies here at Pardoo - I've tried soov, stop itch, rectinol, aloevera, paraderm, rid, ammonia, anti-histamines and a variety of home made remedies all to no avail but for me pinocleen wipes gave the best relief.

Aerogard "odourless" does not contain DEET and works to repel them... trouble is, the blighters wait for you to wash it off in the shower!

Have you tried eating a teaspoonful of veggimite each day?  Somebody told me about it and, it seemed to work.
I also have adopted the alcohol induced theory, I just drink lots and it sweats out and tnobody or nothing likes the smell of an old drunk!!

B45tard things!!

Many Grey Nomads take Vitamin B1 for a month or two before they head North. Works well for some with mozzies and midgies.

.. hmmmm

would kinda leave you with a ring of confidence eh ! .. I mean .. knowing it works !

Deet is not the only repelling ingredient though .. get out the Listerine and  pour into palm of hand then apply to appropriate areas .. dilute slightly if you so choose.

I prefer prevention whenever possible.

As a sports trainer for many years, I use rectinol on the players to help stop grazes, small bleeds etc. I don't tell them what it is, I just say it works :). It causes vasoconstriction I.e. reduces blood flow to the area.

Women have been using it for years too. Some put it around their eyes to reduce wrinkles etc. Beats fancy priced creams lotions.
