Hi Kieth, why not just turn the head lights on, (no cost to install anything). You're also staying within all legal requirments. My headlights would get used more through the day (rain & fog etc) than at night. I very rarely drive at night due to poor vision after sundown, something to do with 5 o'clock drinks also. My car has fog lights as standard, I don't believe I can see any better with them in the fog, hopefully I'm more visible to oncoming traffic.

G'day Keith, I have to concur with Pete, simply use your headlights and you meet all safety/legal requirements at no cost. It's my belief that using foglights in "clear driving conditions" (day or night) is an offence under road rules. I agree that they also are of limited visual help in fog from a drivers perspective.

I'd like my Sprinter to be as visible as possible to on-coming traffic and thought I might like to fit some Daytime Running Lights to the front bullbar.
I'd like them to be of the LED type and as a set of two to be able to "light up" as the engine starts.
Are others using something similar and what suggestions might you have as to just where to buy them at a reasonable price.

I agree with other posts,just use your headlights,It's cheaper and meets legal requirements.
One major point for me is the alignment of aftermarket "Driving Lights" So many idiots out there have badly aligned driving lights that blind you just as much as full beam headlights.
The other gripe is many people use their Fog lights as 'driving lights'(Read Your Manual) not knowing it's illegal.Especially the High Visibilty rear fog lights which destroy following cars night vision if used when not foggy.

Daytime running lights and driving lights are different things to me. Daytime running lights are a low intensity light that will attract another drivers attention without effecting their vision. They can be illuminated without the headlights being switched on.
Driving lights are a vary high intensity light designed to improve a drivers vision at night. By law they must be connected to the high beam headlight circuit so they can only be used when the high beam headlights are in use.

Re difference between driving lights and running lights.
Yes driving lights should be high intensity lights switched through high beam only.But and it's a big but there lots of cars out there that have illegally modified lights,and so called driving lights in the bumper bars. How many have new headlight bulbs that are for off road use only because they exceed the legal limits.How many times are you driving down the road and are blinded by someone oncoming with illegal or badly aimed lights, if they are called Driving lights or Running lights they are still causing problems.
The new LED Lightbars for instance,have you had someone with them sat behind you at night? Where is the light cut off like your headlights which don't throw light towards the oncoming traffic or high to blind the person in front, Enough said.
Some of the modern cars now have LED lights incorporated into their headlight array,one modern car has the LED strip facing upward which was against ADR rules.The ADR was changed to allow the things to remain despite causing other oncoming drivers problems.This so as not to cost a major car company an embarrassing recall.
Ever had one of those trucks coming towards you with so many lights front,side and rear that it's like passing a liner or the centre of Tokyo.
Just take a survey one night in any part of Australia and see how many cars ,trucks whatever with badly aligned lights or missing lights or blinding headlights on dipped beam.
Yes the logic is see and be seen but not blind others.
