Gday...

Not sure what you are looking for or wanting to do in the area ... but in 2010 I stayed at the Wellington Caves Van Park - not too dear, grassy and some shady sites, need to seek a level one.

Of course you are right onsite for the Caves tours etc. If you are looking at doing the caves it is a good place to stay.

Cheers - John

When we were there 3 years ago the camping at Burrendong was over $20 per night, Wellington Caves caravan park was the same, much better value.

Thanks all for that info was wondering about the water levels in Burrendong, thought they might be an issue. The caves do look very nice but as a general rule we gravitate towards water as we like to get the kayak in as much as possible.

will probably check out the CP as it is right on the river and looks really nice even though it's probably fairly exxy!

will let you know what we do

Cheers

PS Thanks Rocky the pics you posted awhile ago prompted us to come here, it's great!

The riverside C/P is right beside the river and a railway bridge ChrisnPeter, I doubt you'd get a kayak in as the bank is pretty high, but its nice enough otherwise.

Hi All,

Ended up going to Wellington Riverside CP - $22 per night for unpowered ($29 P).

We rang Burrendong but the water levels are indeed low so we thought we'd put it on the list for some other time!

It is a very nice park - a bit close to the road and rail but the traffice didn't bother us.

Ammenities very very clean and the grounds kept well.

The river is accessible from the CP (all be very steep) and the views from our site are beautiful.

Only staying a couple of nights so that we can check out Wellington and surrounds and get some washing done.

Would recommend it as a stop over.

We have stayed at the Wellington Caves park and are taking a group back there in March. Lovely big sites and very clean amenities.

Hi ChrisnPeter, are there still billy goats in the paddock beside the bidhe? We were very entertained by them when we stayed there.

Yes there are 2 that follow along the fence line, are keeping an eye on us as I type.

One had a go at head butting Jack luckily there was a fence in between!

Yep, same one! They must keep them there as lawn mowers, its a bit of a surprise they havent killed each other yet, as they had some humdinger head-butting fights!
thanks Chris and Peter.
