Just received an email from a friend with an article on keeping biting insects away, so simple they say to spray LISTERINE around ground, chairs & tables, I haven't tried it yet but going to have a go. Has anyone ever heard of this? I am lunch for all things that bite so heres hoping it works.
Yes that hint was on here some time ago. I do use it on occasions with success. At the moment I am using Rosemary and Cedarwood. In a tub and bought from camping sotes etc. Seems to work for me.
My brother swears by liquid Citronella in a burner, as opposed to the candles. He suffers badly with bites and always has several set around his camp site. It looks a bit like that TV series, Survivor! It does the job, but I'm not fussed on the smell.
I have Sandlewood sticks for mozzies at home, but I don't know if they'd be enough for sandies and midges.
I have used it also Marggie & David. You do need to get the original though. The brown coloured one, as the others dont seem to work as good because of additives.
I used to grow the herb tansy around the front and back doors. Hang up dried leaves etc. Flies, mossies and other bugs never used to be a problem. Going to have to get a few plants!
