There are a lot of roads and bridges closed around Qld. The Bruce Highway is closed in several places, especially around Gin Gin, Bundy to Gyumpie region.
Biggenden is completely cut off at the moment.
A good idea to add to this thread if anyone hears any news of floods and road closures.
Hi everyone I live at murgon, the HWY-Bunya to Kingaroy is surposed to be bloked in two areas, and also you cannot get to Goomeri either. The Burnett HWY is also blocked so you cannot get from here to Nanango. We are surposed to look like an island surroned by water. A friend said kingaroy had power ploes knocked over ,flooding in lots of areas and some very deep pot holes in the roads.
Thanks for that Charley and welcome to the forum. Thats the sort of info that is very helpful, thankyou. That is the area I would be travelling if I ever get out of NSW, and I'm sure others would be pleased to get that news as well so they don't get stuck along those roads.
Biggenden is still isolated as well. The truck supplies can't get in for the grocery stores, stuck at Gayndah. Son got the last 4 litre of milk last night. Will be interesting to see how long that lasts till they can get the supplies in.
The Scenic Rim Shire - Beadesert, Boonah, Aratula, Tambourine Rathdowney etc -water over roads - towns cut off, people been evacuated in Boonah low lying areas. Supplies can't get in our out - Cunningham Highway had water over the road between Kalbar and Warrill View. Road Boonah to Beaudesert closed, as is Boonah to Mt Alford, Kalbar-Washpool water over road - closed at Diggers Bridge -
To give an idea of the amount of water travelling down Teviot Brook, which runs out of the mountains through Boonah to Wyaralong Dam near Beaudesert - in the 2011 floods, the Wyaralong dam - which had not even been completely finished, was plugged and took 25 days to fill!!!!!! The estimated time (non flood) to fill it was 2 - 3 years!!!!!! Lake Moogerah is overflowing the wall, the caravan park is closed, water was nearing the power box.
Couple of pictures of water that has flowed out of Teviot Brook in 2011 floods -noting that the brook is only about 10foot wide and about 15ft dfrom the road to the water normally.
Hi everyone I don't often say much on here.
The floods everywhere are just to much. Last Thursday I was in gin gin then bundaberg and
Drove back down to brisbane that night. Wouldn't like to be stranded up there now.
Stay safe everybody.
My friend Beth54 and I live in a fairly safe spot.
On radio this morning North of Goondiwindi is still closed, as is the road from Goomeri to Ban Ban Springs due to the road being broken up on the intersection.
Does any one else have any they would like to add.
Heading off in the morning, see how far I can get.
Obviously not much happening in the Qld floods at all. 209 have viewed and only 9 responses of which 5 are mine. Great to see nothing happening up there at all and its all just media hype.
Some-one on the ABC this morning was saying he'd come across the border from [I think] NSW, but I'm not sure where he crossed. He had to go a lot further inland than normal, to get back to Blackwater, for the kids to start School there.
Sorry I'm not more help. Those Links I gave you should be of some use surely ? Or are they not updated enough ?
after staying at Goondiwindi overnight. Son and family got through via back roads to Warwick. Then had to come to us at Jimboomba via Toowoomba. They were very lucky to get to us as the local flooding had gone right down.
Thanks Kaid, thats the sort of personal experiences I need to hear. I'm hoping the same, some back roads may be open by the time I get to the border. Either Moonie to Dalby or Millmerrin to Cecil Plains to Dalby, then see what happens after that. NSW side of Goondi is all clear. For now. Am at Tomingely about 50 ks south of Dubbo at the moment.
Have come through part of Qld today, Monday 4/2. Roads open Goondiwindi to Moonie then on to Dalby and onto Kumbia where I am staying the night. There was a sign just going into Moonie that the Dalby road was closed. I asked the the service station, they said no it WAS open. Someone had forgotten to change the sign. A lot of water in paddocks and along side of road, only 2 places along the Goondi to Moonie road did I have to drive through a small amount of water. Will be home in Biggy tomorrow.
Yeh, minus his gall bladder and two teeth. Have arrived home, all well as can be for now. Dog Cody really missed me. Now to clean the house starting from scratch, Argh, where do I start.
