Hi John - haven't stayed there, but been in to have a look - plenty of camping, usually a lot of people there. There is a house where the caretaker lives. Not flash, but ok.

Yes what jules said is correct we stayed there last October you won't find anything about on the Internet council want to kept it low key so not to draw attention to it, when you go into showgrounds front gate head right and you will see the caretaker house stop at the caretakers house there a buzzer on the fence ring it and wait for the caretaker to come there lots of room and the sites have lots of space for you to spread out , it is basic water and power shower and toilet basic but clean

u have to book through moreton shire council i believe my sister told me she works there have done a lot of improvements

If you contact the moreton regional council they will tell you there is no camping at the redcliffe showgrounds you must just turn up at the showgrounds and see the caretaker ,it is the show society who run the camping I stayed there last year I was told by someone to ring the council and when I did was told by the council you could not camp there so would think it would be good idea not to ring council

As Brickies said there is a caretaker on site, ring the buzzer or mobile phone no provided if caretaker isn't there.

Camped there with a club in Dec 2011 and it was $15 pn but that may have been a discounted rate as we had approx 35 vans there.

Plenty of power there but water outlets are limited. Dump point next to the amenities block.

Have stayed there several times with our caravan club. Staying there again with club at Easter and we are paying $17 pvpn but am unsure if that is a club discount. A large market is held on the grounds on a Sunday with sellers arriving around 4:00am.
I agree with "Brickies" re telephone calls. We booked with the Council but when we confirmed with the caretaker she claimed to know nothing about the booking. Future calls to the caretaker's number saw us speaking to different volunteers with messages not being passed on or incorrect details being recorded. When we first went, facilities were not locked with locals passing through creating problems. They are now locked with campers having access through keys. Not palatial but fine for a stopover. Enjoy.

When North of Brisbane, we stay at the Beachmere Caravan Park. Pricing has always been reasonable, but it is a small so it is wise to book.

It's clean, right on the beach, right in town, next to bowls club, good B-B-Q, great amenities, not far from Bribie Island, owned by the council, but run by the local Lions Club.

Very short drive to Caboolture or Morayfield and not that far to North Lakes or Redcliffe

Agree fully. Beachmere has excellent facilities and great location. Far superior to Redcliffe. Only minutes to our most thorough caravan repair, service and accessories fitting business.

The view I expressed was only that of a satisfied customer. I have had my van serviced here on an annual basis for some years. The business is Caboolture Caravan Repairs, 17 Strathvale Court Caboolture, Queensland, 4510. When having it serviced we stay the previous night at Beachmere, early morning delivery to CCA, shopping in nearby Morayfield Shopping Complex, after lunch pickup then back home to Toowoomba

KenK - why not post the info re the caravan repairer in the "recommendations" sectionof this forum - then it will be available for all to see - sounds like you are happy with them, always good to share good service! Hope you are enjoying the site!

Thanks Ken,

We are wanting to fit a grey water tank to our van, but it is proving difficult to find someone to do it. Unfortunately, Toowoomba seem to be a little under serviced for RV modifications.

I believe Kimbley Kampers have now got a system where they re-claim the shower water for the washing machine. Would extend free camping but be overkill for our needs.

Drove past there yesterday & there a lot of vans in there. No idea of costs though. Lawnton showgrounds I know are $20pn.

I just posted that we also use CCR- did a major modification last Jan as well as other bits & pieces, but they are always flat out- need to book your van.

Just got back home (Scarborough QLD) today (Friday) from Boynedale Bush Camp, thankfully left yesterday, since heard that the highway is closed at Miriamvale. Went to collect the held mail and on the way back noticed that there are quite a few vans in the Redcliffe showgrounds.

Looks like Redcliffe Showgrounds will no longer be open to camping. Friends who are currently staying there said someone complained to the council because they could not stay longer than 6 weeks so the council has now decided to close it to camping. Why cant people keep there mouth shut ?

I have just spoken to Barbara from the Redcliffe Show Society who tells me talk of closing Redcliffe Showgrounds to camping is a rumour that they are finding very frustrating. They remain open for business.
I still think Clontarf or Beachmere would be better options but our club will be at Redcliffe for Easter and we will enjoy it as we have done in the past.

Sorry Rockylizard. More conflicting info. The Combined Caravan Clubs of Qld have this afternoon advised clubs that Redcliffe Showgrounds are now closed to individual campers but will continue to welcome clubs. This was not conveyed to me this morning when I did the update. I would suggest before you set off you check with the caretaker whose name is June.Her phone number is 07 3284 5387. Reports on Clontarf CP seem very positive.

Redcliffe showground is definitely closed for casual camping. We arrived here this afternoon assuming we could stay as we had been told they were clsong from June 1st.

The caretaker said we could stay for tonight, but would have to leave tomorrow unless we could get permission from the council to stay. The council MIGHT allow a max one week if your rig is over 30ft and you have a medical certificate (which we do not have).

Bells Caravan park at Clontarf looks quite reasonable so we will go there tomorrow. $29 per night or $145 per week and there are some big sites.

Thanks Oz Gypsy - I was pretty much preparing myself for what you have experienced ... and I too was going to try Bells Van Park down on the foreshore of Clontarf.

It used to be a dive, but from their website it does appear to have improved considerably - and it is right on the foreshore (well across the road) but it will be good to go for long walks around the Peninsular like I used to do when I lived in Kippa Ring.

Guess I will save myself any mucking around and prop at Bells for a week or so when I get there - probably about four weeks away still cry

Hi John

We went to Bells for a look this arvo and it is clean and tidy. We did not look at the amenities, but assume they are OK. Most of the sites are for tourists and we felt quite comfortable when we walked around for a look. The managers were very obliging and gave us a couple of sites to inspect.
