Spending a couple of days at the Lake doing a bit of tent camping this time. Not a 100% happy about it but we had to give it a go. Now I know why I love caravanning, I'll say no more. One piece of news that came to light today is that the local council are apparently going to close this site due to the number of call outs that police, fire dept and council have had over the past. The problems are with irresponsible users that have caused so much trouble to all these departments that they have all said
" enough is enough". Not sure when it will happen but thay have said some time this year. As usual it's the actions of the few that wreck it for the most.

They should just close it to the locals as they are the problem. When we were there in2011 all night parties, smashed bottles left around the camps etc etc.
Another case of the majority being dictated to by the minority, they are their own worst enemy.

I hope they doesn't happen at Greens. It's such a lovely place to stay. Very busy over New Year period. You hear similar comments every where, Campers were saying similar things at Aysons Reserve near Rochester last year. Would be a shame for the small towns in the area.
Yes we go along with everyones remarks, when we were there last we had the 4th of July happen at 2 in the morning, fireworks, loud music and idiots hooning around. The next morning we left for a more quieter place HOME. It really pisses us off (excuse language) that a once lovely spot again gets ruined by dickheads.
I stayed at Greens lake recently in late 2012, it was wonderful. I was on my way to Temora but I decided I would return via Greens Lake & stay a couple of days to really enjoy the peace & outlook. I had forgotten that it was Melb Cup & so many people made it a long weekend. I rolled in & it was like being at Mornington Beach. OK I thought, I can handle families having fun but when I drove around looking for a camp spot I changed my mind & headed off to quieter regions. When you see motorbikes racing around, many campsites piled high with cans of Jim Beam, beer & rubbish everywhere I thought no way would I stay here.
Sad to hear that they are thinking of closing it. Maybe they should consider charging for weekends & public /school holidays. That should filter out the hoons. I could deal with that result.
My understanding, and I was there when the firies were talking about it, They and the police are trying to talk the Shire into closing Greens Lake over the New Year week. Putting a chain up at the gate he said and a notice, it is closed for that time. They are sick of having to go out and sort out the drunks and mess. They haven't got the shire to agree to it yet. I would be happy with that as long as it remained open the rest of the year.
