If you belong to an RV club how much does your club membership cost?
The two largest Australia wide RV clubs each charge $60 per annum, as part of this one posts out 12 club magazines per month, while the other posts out 4 club magazines per month. Other clubs charge less again.
Without naming particular clubs, Australia wide or State clubs only, if you belong to a club how much does your club charge?
Although I was a member of various clubs over the years I much prefer the informal gatherings of members on forums such as this.

When I first started travelling, I joined CMCA. (Why not name it). I gleaned a wealth of information from the monthly magazine and the annual handbook, Wanderer's Mate. I think the initial cost was $60.00 but annual renewal is $44.00. One advantage is Insurance. I certainly save more that $44.00 a year on Insurance by dealing thru CMCA. The information I have gleaned on this Forum has been extensive, but it is more of a practical nature, which is important, compared to the Club's Magazine which is more theory...
Hi BG, yes excellent value for money like some of the others.
The reason I didn't want to name club's is I didn't want to start a bun fight, there was a club mentioned on here in recent days that is listed as a Pty Ltd company, I checked out that charges $14.95 per month, ($179.40 per annum) and although it claims you can pay monthly if you wish to me that is just exhorbitant and you would have to question what benefits you get for your membership for that type of money.
I don't like to see people or grey nomad members ripped off and I suggest anyone thinking of joing a club to look into what the club offer for the membership fees asked. The majority of clubs for those that want to belong to them are excellent value for money. Doug, the A'van Club Of Australia (folding A shaped camper trailers only) is one of the cheapest RV clubs in Australia. They started as a club before Avan started making caravans and motorhomes and voted to remain that way at an annual general meeting of members who voted on it. One state branch broke away (Sydney South Coast Avan Club) and take any sort of Avan, also other RV's if members who previously had an Avan ended up buying something else later. This way friendships made over the years continued.
But in the end, joining a club like Doug said is a personal choice, you are either a club person or you are not, although a good way to exchange ideas and pick up tips from others at rallies etc.
That is why I suggested on another thread it is better to join a generic club if anyone wants to join one so there is no conflict with their constituion and if you decide to change rigs to other types or makes you don't have to leave the club. The are many who are specific type/make clubs who are specific, eg; Jayco and others who will only accept that make of RV if you wish to remain a member.
Most clubs allow prospective members to come along to a couple of rallies without joining to see if you like the club before you join, which is a good idea. Some are very regimented while others are very laid back, and this allows you to find the best club for you or to see if you would like the club lifestyle. .

I am not a member of any club although you have mentioned one in particular to me on a few occasions but I have decided not to join as I like meeting people from this forum and the ones I have met so far are great people and I look forward to meeting them again sometime and many others.
I have learnt and seen so much from the various members here and most things can be adapted to any type of rig you may have, big or small. This forum is full of great and knowledgeable people so I am not interested in clubs or other forums.

Should that be per year Vic? The magazine I think you mean is very informative, (The Wander) we considered joining as affiliate members just to get the mag.

Thanks Gerty, 12 magazines per year (1 per month), old fart's disease. Yes the value of the mags alone is worth it.
