Hi Steve and Glenys, Fellow kiwis here. Was doing the same exercise as you until last week. Basically the ATM is the loaded weight (clothes, water, food etc). This is generally calculated at 400kg on oz vans. You then need to look at the towing capacity of the vehicle you buy. We have just bought a new jayco Starcraft and ATM is 2450. We hence need a vehicle to tow 2.5 tons minimum. We have just bought a Holden jackaroo which tows 2.5 tons. Just within guidelines! Better leave shoe collection at home eh??!!! Can't wait to hit the road! Cya out there! Vicki and Bryan
