The correct way to add a link to a post

I find it easier to type in the link, put the cursor right behind it left click and move the cursor one space with the space bar......done!

(this was working fine with me until the current glitch which delays the post, it overides this procedure, but once the post is posted and showing ok I am able to edit it.....under normal circumstances my method works on first posting...)

For me, it's simpler just to type the address in, [or Copy and Paste it,]  then, before you move the curser, before spacing, or anything else, click the Enter button.  The link will be underlined, and set to go, after you've submitted your Post.

Cheers,

Sheba.

I've noticed many posters will add a link to their message for the rest of us to peruse which is great but, because it isn't done properly we have to cut and paste the link to a new browser window to view the link.

To make it easier for us readers would people please try to add the link using the supplied icon as explained below.

1. Type the link where you want it in the message.

2. Highlight the link by rolling the mouse curser over it with the left mouse button pressed then copy it (press control & C) but leave it still highlighted.

3.Next, Look just above the message window and you will see an unbroken chain icon which is in the middle row of icons just under the 'U'  icon, click it.

4. In the window that comes up find the 'Link URL' section & paste the copied link into it (press control &  V)

5. Press the Insert button at the bottom of the little window.

This should make your link clickable.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Jon

I've found THIS is a good way.

I do what Sheba does and all is fine.
Bit of a fiddle but worth the effort and easier than any alternative.

This works for me too... but only if I hit "reply" or "Advanced Editor" instead of quick reply.

I'm surprised theres so many ways to make this happen.

None of the other methods mentioned work for me. It may be something to do with me using an Apple Mac computer.

Anyway whatever method is preferred, I hope this thread is read by the people that didnt know any method in the first place.

Thanks for posting that Jon, I have always wondered how to use that link symbol, no doubt yours is the correct way to post a link even if not the simplest for some of us, but at least we now know the correct way to do it (which I didn't before) aww
