We are about to remove the air conditioner on the coach, and resheet the roof before fitting our solar pannels.  The a/c and area to be resheeted are near the existing (original) bus front roof vent (emergency exit hatch), so what we are thinking is that it may be worth putting in a new fan/vent as any resheeting work to be done can be done all at once.

What have GN's used that they would recommend?

Should we go with exhaust or just a vent?  Any links to recommended products would be very welcome.

The existing vent is around 800x1000.  Should we go with that size, or smaller?

Do you know of the 4 season vents used in some caravans?, mechanical and sturdy but allow good air flow in all weather and won't be blown away with a sudden gust of wind like my brothers vents did in his motor home, he had them up for the air and lost 3 vents in 30 secs, left big holes in his roof which was hard to cover up, not much can go wrong witht he 4 seasons vents, check them out!!

 The four-season vent is not so sturdy.  I think they're very fragile for what they do in the position they're in.  However, they are a great installation, but must be handled with care.

There is a roof fan which draws air in, and out.  Might pay you to have a look.  Kedron has it in the roof over the bed.

  The vent your talking about is an Excel, I think, I can't find the paperwork on them or a name on the vent itself, I have 2 in my camper, there are 2 models, one with a thermostat control, it can pull air in or out, the other one is smaller with just an on/ off switch, the only thing I don't like about them is the flimsy covers, in the smallest breeze it rattles and I have lost one to a gust of wind already, the cover gets very brittle in the sun, I've had vans before with the 4 seasons vent and have found them to be quite sturdy, haven't had any problems with them anyway, anyone else have problems with them?

I have the 4 season vent in our van and have had no problems as yet with it. Had a good thunder storm the other night at Cervantes,W.A. with heavy rain and strong winds which
shook the van about pretty hard so i think they are quite a sturdy vent.
Had to close the other 2 which are the flap type as would have lost them.. Norm..

So, we've done a bit of hunting, and found these, both are available here or from the US, if we get them here, they will cost double what they will from the States for the exact same model.

I have the second model in my camper witht the three speed fan, good unit, works well with a thermostate control as well but still has the plastic cap that is very fragile in a breeze, I went through a hail storm a few months ago and the only damage was both these types of vent caps, wish you well with choosing!!!
