New Nomad

Hello all,

found this forum when I was looking for something entirely different.  Looks like I have stumbled onto a wealth of knowledge and experience.

I have spent the last winter building my self a sort of camper/work trailer and fitting out my tow vehilce as the bedroom/office.  Will post some pics to the "Show Us Your Rig" thread when I work out how to post pics(I am assuming I use photobucket and upload from there   )

My plan is to head off in early March and visit a couple of places in Tassie(my home) first and then head to the big island.  This will also give me some time to sort any bugs out of the set up.

Not sure if I will be going for 6 days or 6 months or longer but I figure if I don't go now I never will.  Not sure how I will cope on my own but it is good to read about other solo travellers on this forum.

Nice to meet you all and I look forward to sharing experiences with you.

Cheers

Wayne

Welcome Tassie Tiger.  Very simple to add Pics. here.  Just click the box at Attach Image(s) below this box.   Another dropdown box will appear, and if you follow the prompts from there, you're home and hosed.   You don't have to have Photobucket.  Personally, I won't use it.

Cheers,

Sheba.

G'day John - I am not heading off till about the middle of March.  Finishing up my casual work on 23 Jan then a month to get the house organised, garage sale etc etc plus some changes to the trailer eg. adding a solar panel. Perhaps we will catch up when I get to the big island?

Thanks the rocket I hope to.

Cheers

Wayne

Welcome to the forum Wayne. I'm also a solo from Tassie - Opossum Bay - and heading off again end-Feb or thereabouts to go around Australia. Perhaps catch up before I head off?

Well the departure date of last weekend was delayed by a bleeding pain in the neck (literally) and because the stitiches don't come out till the 25th the departure will now be the week before Easter.  I have started a blog(read on-line diary) at www.thisnomadthing.blogspot.com.au and will be making regular posts as I travel.  Happy to welcome you all along as "virtual travel companions".

Raining here today, at long last, so have been doing some more packing up of the "shed"(my home) sorting stuff out in the trailer and tow vehicle.

Next week is my last week here but I will be busy picking up some new skills to take with me on the road which will hopefully help the old bank balance.

See you on the road.

Wayne
