If there are any of our Nomads heading in this direction, although I would doubt it, the following news item on ABC radio could be of interest.
"The temperature in Oodnadatta yesterday, (14th) was 47 deg and the roadhouse could only serve petrol between 11.00am and 3.00pm as the fuel evaporated in the pump!!!! Interview was with the owner of the roadhouse.
Gerty I hope all is OK so far with your temps. After our first year back here, the No 2 son said he wouldn't visit again unless we had air con. So we ummed and ahhed and put in ducted and the day after it was installed it was 42C! That was 3 years ago. But like this time, once the southerly came through, the temp the next day was so low we didn't need air con again for a few days. We don't often put it on but it's nice to have it when we need it. Give me the coastal temps anytime. Although having said that, a dry heat out west and 30C -33C is a lovely day.
just like Ruth and Gerty, we are on the south coast too and as much as I love travelling inland and outback, I'll take the south coast on days like these. went for a short walk this morning then straight to the beach at the end of the street for a swim, rest of the day will be spent sharing the house with the air conditioner!!!
