Triton Springs

Hello all.

Just recently purchased a 2012 Mitsubishi Triton to tow our Caravan.

It looks like to me, that I will have to upgrade the rear leaf springs as they are too soft to handle the constant load(fridges, batteries, genny etc) of apprx 350kgs.

I fitted some Ironman Loadplus springs, and they did assist, but still not really enough. By the time the Caravan is added to the total weight(apprx Towball 200kgs) it's about 550kgs.

Just wondering if anyone else has made modifications similar to my problem.

There is a product called "Super Springs" that look OK, but would like some feedback/opinions on what might be best.

Thanks Curl.

hi Curl,

You could look at SaxSuspension Technology or Lovell Springs from what i have read you may have ugrade shockers and springs.

But i am no expert on these products.

G'day Curl,

sorry to read about your rear suspension problems; its common with the Triton and worse since they extended the tray by 6 inches. I purchased new MN Triton 2010 and its a great vehicle but it does need the rear suspension upgraded from factory standard. I didnt upgrade rear, but it sure did need it and nothing like the advertised 1tonne load capacity on the tray was carried either!

A good source of information could be found if you google new triton forum, loads of members with personal experience of your problem and solutions.

cheers

Remember that if you are not using WDH then the loading from the vans ball weight will be closer to 300 kg than 200 kg (by virtue of the lever action of weight on the tow ball.)
