-18 degrees C is the recomended temperature for domestic freezers to get the maxium preservation life out of frozen food. A lot of people running 12volt fridges as freezers run them around -3 to -4 degrees C to save on battery draw. I'd think this would affect the preservation life of the food. If you were running your waceo on 240 volt this wouldn't be a problem.

Hi We have a waeco and use it in our caravan as a freezer we was running it on -18 but was told that is toooo cold could readers of this forum tell me what they run their
waeco on to freeze ours is a c.f.40 and only use it to freeze cheers
I have a cdf 55 waeco and run it on -3c or there abouts or it runs to much and draws to much. Average at this temp is2.5 amps per hr.I have had 10kgs of barra frozen for 3 weeks and it was good to eat afterwoods- 18 c on 240 might be alright, but on 12v the fridge will run a lot, all the time. Bill
The best temperature for keeping a beer at ideal temperature in my 50 litre Waeco is minus 4 degrees. we also use ours to store frozen meals when leaving home on a trip the beer is then limited to the small area at one end.

Don't you just love these waecos, my hubby finally talked me into getting one and guess what goes in ours, the beer now i know why he was so keen to get one, having said that i now can use the all the fridge and freezer for food so shouldn't complain, but i just loved it when he first got it he was mucking around with the temp a fair bit and ended up with frozen beer, but quickly got that sorted.
