Thinking of folk who are grieving over the holidays

Although the world is celebrating, for some folk its a painful season.

Many people have lost someone over these festive days.

A cousin lost her dad christmas day and her mum new years eve. For myself, my dad died on christmas eve, and a close friend lost her 14 year old son on new years eve.

We are not alone.

If you know someone with a sad anniversary in the silly season, please be kind.

"Bah humbug" doesn't cut it and can be cruel.

Rip & Rosie we are thinking of you and all others who have lost a family member or friend, especially those like yourself who are facing the first year without a loved one.

The advertisements featuring a "Happy family opening Christmas presents" can cause even more stress for those who are alone, unwell or grieving, and all the public holidays and closures of support services over the public holiday period make it even harder.
I used to work in aged Care, and very often I would be the only person those elderly folk would see on Christmas day. The Christmas hype is very cruel to some.... it used to be about Goodwill among all?

The goodwill is still there ,I'ts just that we forget sometimes and it takes little reminders for us to remember these unfortunate happenings .Like you, our thoughts are with those who are suffering.God bless and good wishes to all .Alan and Delilah..The Mongrels.

My son is a bit of a bah humbug, but daughter-in-law pointed out that it should be a season of giving thanks, a bit like the American Thanksgiving. It doesn't need to be based on religion, but just thinking of those who've suffered during the year, and giving thanks for our health, family etc. Dil works in the medical industry and sees sad stories all the time...as you would have Rosie.

We have a good friend who has cancer and spent Xmas in hospital, after having a chuck of stomach cut out a few days before. He's home now, so hopefully he will be a little happier.

My thoughts are with you and yours Rosie.

Thinking of you Rosie. I deal with lots of people having a very difficult time with cancer through a forum and good health is such a blessing.

Personally I had to put my dog to sleep last Tuesday on Christmas Day so not a good Christmas but lots to be thankful for.

Hello, Thinking of you and everyone else who has a hard time during this season. It is true not everyone finds it a joyous occasion. May the new year bring you happiness and good health.
