Only myself and Happywander here at present left out of all Gray Nomads. Weather, was today vey nice. Hope the same for tomorrow and the New Year. There 's here a literal tent town now, with even a Mirrage Pub. No buzz, though. Just some cold water and ice. But this does a lot of good, in the hit of a day, doesn't it ?
Met up with Ziggi and Marj at greens today and it is getting very busy, and would say by the end of the day it will be chockers Plenty of boats and a few jet ski's but they will increase Good to meet Ziggi and add new faces to the avatars Ken
As I am planning on heading to Green's Lake around mid April, can I ask a couple of questions ? I realize there is no power, and there is a toilet block. Any showers ? Any water to take on board ? I can go about 4 to max. 5 days before I would have to take on water and use a Dump Point, meaning I'd have to move to a nearby town for these facilities, but that's not a problem, coz I usually restock on food etc every week. I think Shepparton is around 70 km away or I think I read of a smaller town with these facilities closer. I haven't done my homework yet as I'm overseas at present.

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
You are right, there is no power so you need Solar or Gene.
Yes there is a toilet block with a tap and running water, I have been told this is filtered from the lake. There was a couple there when I was there and they filled water containers from that tap then emptied the water into their CV water tank, they both said seemed fine to drink, they were there for about 4 weeks and no probs.
No showers. Nice fresh cold water in the big bath though.
If you don't use chemicals in your porta toilet and use the cheap nappisan stuff you can empty into the public toilet on site, all there did and no problems. I just emptied a little at a time as a normal toilet isn't made for a large dump in one go.
Shepparton is about 55km to the East with Mooroopna is just before Shep and about 50km. Elmore is about 25km to the West and Echuca is about 45km North West.
Hope that is of some help.

Here is some more info on nearby towns.
Theere is also close-by a little town, Corop. With petrol station, post office and general store in one location, just very tiny town some 6 km from the Green's Lake on the way to Elmor. There is also another yet small town, Stanhope. It has petrol statiopn with cheap diesel, as I saw on the way, small shopping centre, post office, good cheap restaurant, and some other services.
There is also facilities for showers, toilets, town water and a dump point at a free-camp at Girgarre Town Park - about 20km east and north of Green's Lake.
It is listed in Camps 6 - VIC site 474.
Cheers - John

Big help thank you. Yes, I can handle all that. Have Solar and if I can fill the water tanks, that's great. Use that water for showers, toilet flush and dishwashing.. I usually carry 10 to 20 liters of drinking water separately. Showers not a problem I have a shower and gas hot water.
Only just started using a Select brand (Woolworths) cleaner in the toilet, so dumping will be ok.
Certainly do have a tap key. Got caught out once or twice so I made the investment, but unfortunately I left it on a tap somewhere along the road, so had to re-invest in another.
All sounds good. I arrive back in Tassie New Years Day so in the next few weeks will start planning again for a departure late March or early April.

Yes I am aware of that little town Girgarre. I have been thru Shepparton a few times but didn't know about Green's Lake. So near yet so far !! I am a member of CMCA and have always relied on their annual handbook, Wanderer's Mate, also my own notes on past experiences and free camps I have stopped at but I notice on this Forum everyone refers to Camps 6. It's obviously more comprehensive so will have to make a purchase.
