Q Fever

only downside to our fabulous time at Glenmorgan is that Barry may have Q fever - he's been in Warragul hospital since Sunday and quite unwell. Blood tests had to be sent to QLD  - results expected tomorrow.

very good information

i have lived in qld for over 30 years and until now had never heard of q fever (unless you count state of origin)

with the travelling that caravaners and campers do this sort of information is of great benefit

thank you

brian

My son got it many years ago as a truck driver. he was carrying beef waste. Bones, innards, blood and guts.etc. They think he got it from that. Ended up in hospital too, was very sick for a while.
Hope Barry recovers quickly, all the best to you both. Where is Glenmorgan and what were you doing there that might have caused him to get the Q Fever.

Can be very nasty if not diagnosed correctly.   Hubby No.1 was a Meatworker, and Q Fever was common among them in the 60's.   Shouldn't be such a problem these days, with the more modern medical treatments.

Used to cause the Brain to swell and gave excruciating Headaches back then.

Most people working with cattle usually have Vaccinations these days.  Never had it back then.   It used to recur periodically , as well.   Don't know if the modern treatment stops that from happening.

I'm sure he'll be fine.

Take care,

Cheers,

Sheba.

Glenmorgan is betwene Roma and Dalby and we were there for 6 weeks - I had a paid job running the house and Barry was often around the animals just helping out - but he seems much better today - antibiotics have kicked in

Thanks everyone for yor kind wishes and messages. Barry is home from hospital and feeling much better but needs a few nanna naps to get through the day. Back in Lakes Entrance with no plans to move for at least 5 weeks so he can get lots of rest. Hopefully its a mild dose without too many after effects.
