we got the same here, only we have the kangaroo crossings everywhere ,I wish the council would do a bit more for the pensioners.

Does this mean that the council values wombats more than pensioners? I suppose they both freeze in the headlights at night.Actually, ther is a species called"wombles" in England. They seem to be inhabiting Wimbledon Common, in London, and look a lot like old age pensioners. They even made a tv serese about them?Must be our wombats relatives...........

I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbour call the local council
to request the removal of the WOMBAT CROSSING sign on our road.
The reason:  'Too many wombats are being hit by cars out
here!  I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'

I sure hope our wombat wasn't one of the unlucky ones as he hasn't been seen around here for a while now.

Your neighbor mis- understood the meaning of the sign ?? It is put there so motorists know that it is a good place to lay in wait for un-suspecting wombats biggrinbiggrin

I posted this answer, with the hope that '' our wombat '' is lurking around out there ?? spots it ?? and decides that his GN break has been long enough, and makes an early return !! smile
