Shire Campsite At Lake Leschenaultia - East of Perth WA - Tents, Camper Trailers and Campervans - No Pets

This Shire campsite is at Lake Leschenaultia, near Chidlow WA, not far off the Great Eastern Highway.   Approx 50kms east of Perth.

Modern Hot showers & toilets, free washing machine and dryer and campers kitchen with fridge, microwave and BBQ plates.  All ablutions and drinking water is scheme water from the Mundaring Weir.

There is a cost involved but well worth it IMHO, sorry no pets.   Kiosk, Cafe, Canoe Hire or BYO Canoe.  Swimming Pontoon also.

There is an easy walk around the lake of about 3kms total.

Day entry only and use of the picnic areas and swimming/own canoes etc is free.

From experience, if camping, avoid school and public holidays and weekends as it gets very busy, also you would need to book your campsite as they are limited.

Camping is allowed for tents, camper trailers and campervans (see link below)

Areas shown are the Lake Office, Swimming area and Pontoon, Boat Shed, BBQ & Picnic area, Camping spots (powered), Camp Kitchen, Free washing machine and dryer, inside one of the male shower blocks and outside of one of the two male and female shower block.

All water on site is mains water, both to taps and showers (gas heated)

Campervans ok, ask if small motorhomes are ok (under 6 metres).  Definitely no caravans (caretaker excepted).

No entry fees there now for day visits or use of facilities etc, can hire canoes.   NO PETS.

See this updated link for more info, also some pic's of camping area etc below;

Yes Lake Leschenaultia is very sceinic, but please be careful.  Close friends of ours who worked everyday running their Delicatessen without even a holiday for many years decided on paying to bring family members from Ireland  to WA for a short holiday.  Off they all went happily to Lake Lechenaultia,  Barry who was a big strong man with a great irish personality  dived into the water, he never surfaced, family became worried, he was found caught in wire, they went home minus Barry.  It is so sad when things like this happen because people use these places as dumping grounds, it cost this lovely family dearly....Kisha.

That's very sad news Kisha, I had never heard about that before.   I worked there as a volunteer caretaker for 8 weeks over Xmas/New Year/Australia Day a couple of years ago, it is a lovely place.  No entry fee to park now (only camping fees or shelter bookings) and Café taken back over by Shire managers.  Best to avoid holiday periods/weekends if possible for camping, gets very busy.
