Cameron Corner road condition??????

G'day Possum,

On paper your old could be 114kW/330nM , the new 118/380. So on paper it is a marginal increase. My old trusty Patrol is 125/325 so apart from fuel efficiency it's line ball or a step back for me.

After years of faithful service from the Patrol, I've ordered a different brand even though my old chariot experience lead me to the Nissan dealer as first choice. Even the new auto has the same tow rating as my old Patrol. I expected more out of Nissan, didn't get it so moved on.

I hope you'll get out of your new Patrol what you want because I certainly did out of my old one.

Cheers

By the way, the only thing worse than a car salesperson is a realestate salesperson and vice a versa,,, who ya gunna trust

Just sold my Old '99 Nissan GU 6cyl - and bought new 2012 Patrol Series 8, as I believe they will no longer importing deisel Patrols when new behemoth V8 petrol is launched in January - Nissan assures me that new 4 cyl common rail will out-pull old vehicle. But then the sales people at Nissan haven't been totally honest with anything they have said so far - so we'll see.

I'm towing a small semi off-road Jayco Freedom pop-top and leaving Sydney Wednesday for Cameron Corner, via Mudgee - Binnaway - Collarenabri - Lightning ridge - Bourke - Tibooburra - Cameron's corner - Innamincka - Broken Hill - Wilcannia - Cobar - Dubbo - Orange, then back to Sydney.

Has anyone been up there recently - How is the road into Cameron Corner at the moment?

At the end of June early July we travelled through the Corner Country.  Roads were in excellent condition at the time as there had been no rain and they had been graded shortly before.  We could have drove a standard vehicle across.

If it rains, there is a fine of $1,000 a tyre if you travel on dirt roads or those closed.  Lots of wild-life - roos, emu, wedge-tail eagle and cattle.  Cost of both unleaded and diesel at Cameron Corner was $2.20 a litre.

As you leave Bourke, it's worth having a stop at the old North Bourke bridge as there was lots of bird-life in that area.

Enjoy your trip and let me know if you need any other information.   smilesmile

We drove north along the Strzelecki Track to Innamincka on 14.10.12.
Take it quietly and you won't have any dramas.

This pic was taken west of Cameron Corner in 2009.

Beautiful country.

In April this year we did the dirt road from Condobolin to Cobar, Cobar to White Cliffs, White Cliffs to Tibooburra, Tibooburra to Cameron Corner via Fort Grey, Cameron Corner to Merty Merty, Merty Merty to Innamincka via the old Strzelecki track, Innamincka to Dig Tree, Dig Tree to Noccundra and then back down to Tibooburra. From Tibooburra we went down the "Silver City Highway" to Packsaddle and on to Broken Hill.

What a great drive. The roads were good - just drove to the conditions.  Parts of the road were still wet from the Christmas rains so we had to skirt muddy puddles but the 2010 Patrol and the off-road Billabong van made it with no problems at all.
