Depends on needs, we found that the custom van manufacturers are more willing to waver in the price war than the supermarket models (Jayco, coramel etc). Some custom makers sell direct, no middle mark-up yards and can be screwed down more. Weer went for the JB caravan for this reason as they had many of the optional extras as standard and will fit for FREE ( including wireing, mountings etc) many other bits you purchase and send them like solar pannels, reversing cameras, 3G/4g aerial, tool boxes (even extending the drawbar 200mm to accomodate the box, extra water tank mounting points to name a few. This for us ment a saving of around $8000 as we did purchase at a show. (BUT had been into many yards the week before to find out normal prices and to give us time to process the info. Also you can save around $2000 by picking up your nre van instead of having them either of more often tow it to you or the dealer. worth thinking about no subistute for research.
Can't wait till 14th Dec to pick it up and slow trip home from melbourne

So... how much would one expect to negotiate off a new or used caravan??
Can one be TOO cheeky???
Made an offer on a van today...about $3,500 off the asking price....he did the usual "going to go call the boss" thing and wandered off for 5 mins. Came back and said no go but he will throw in 250w solar panel and a battery at the asking price. Hmmm... would prefer to negotiate on the asking price and add those bits when we decide what our needs are going to be!!
So...how was it for you? Did you manage to get them to drop a decent amount?
How much would you expect them to drop on a caravan with asking price around $50k??
it will depend on the dealer and how they initially price their vans, the van we bought was approx 56k and we got nothing off but the value of the van standard inclusions compared to competitors we weren bothered and as some of you know i am a motor dealer and buy hundereds of cars a year so i know how to negotiate.
go back to the salesman and ask to see the boss, negotiate with him/her direct tell him/her that you want $4000 off the price with no solar or extra batt and tell him you will walk if he/she cannot give you what you want, just say to him/her you do not want to waste any of his time and more important any more of your own time.
