Bught a copy of thsi at a market this morning. Nice 300 page book with Colour photos of pies and reviews of shops and pies from around Australia. Two brothers wrote it and I met one.

If you have a favourite let me know and we'll see how thorough it is.

I just googled it. Tony and Paul Clancy are the authors. 29.95 in bookstores or another 11.95 for postage if bought online.

I can't see that you can check out the pages but there are stories from people who have bought it.

I met Tom this morning and he's a nice guy. Book is printed in Australia which is becoming a rarity these days. Problem is looking at the pictures makes me fancy a pie but someone borrowed my car.

 Not in the book nor the Nimmitabell Bakery. Will suggest them. On my travels might start reveiwing pie shops should be worth about 25kg per year.

I normally avoid junk food but I confess a weakness for a good pie. (Someone please tell me pies aren't junk food!). A little bakery in Kahibah (Newcastle suburb) does a mean curry pie, reasonably high octane, not wimpy low octane curry. In fact all their pies are really good.

There are only two types of pasty, really nice or bloody awful.

I've yet to get a decent pie anywhere north of the Tropic of Capricorn, with maybe the possible exception of the pie cart on the side of the road at Cardwell.

Best pepper stead pie is actually a vegetarian one made by my friend - just the right amount of pepper, and delicious.

Why, oh why, do Queenslanders insist on putting tomatoe in a steak and onion pie!!!!!

As for people who slather a good pie with tomatoe or bbq sause!!!! Sacrilege!!!!!

 Pies are Not/Not junk food must agree with you - not a decent pie north of the Tropic....  certainly not one in Mackay

Definately a sucker for a good pie .

Hodges Bakery at Eumundi ( Qld. ) . ( The market town ) . Best I've tasted in 70 years of fair dinkum pie eating .

Followed by the Quilpie Bakery and the Toompine Pub . All these places make their own , and they're great pies .

Don't know what Daxy ( at Toompine  ) puts in his , but there's a hell of a lot of camels , donkeys and goats running wild out there .

 

Have heard a couple of good reports about the Birdsville Bakery pies too .

Agree about Quilpie pies, Sandsmere - delicious - is it the same owner? Lady used to be a gun shearer? Nice person, very friendly. Love Quilpie.

The bakery at the Rock out from Wagga does a pretty good meat pie and a neg kelly from Orange bakery is also worth the effort

MacIntyre Bakery in Inverell has the best pies I have tasted especially their curry pies. . . .YUM!!!

Scottsdale Tasmania - Cottage Bakery - they have a venison, rabbit and wallaby pie - Billeeeeeee had one, said it was very nice. I had the curried sea scallop pie - quite tasty.
