Hi Brian and Cheryl,
Well Canberra came and is now gone, we tried to stay at the show grounds but it was badly organised, they took our money but we couldn't park because we were to big so luckily we got a refund. Had to stay at the Eaglehawk tourist park, not very nice at $40.00 a night, but cheryl needed to see her brother (on her bucket list), we are now at a nice place called Ariah Park, near Temora, set as it was in the 1920's beautiful, free camp or $10.00@ night. Take care and hopefully we will see you in Melbourne or somewhere.

I am so jealous, hopefully I will be there in the next few days if and when I get over this bug.
Hi you two, battery was fully charged this morning, and chevy started no problems and alternator charging ok. Auto electrician said could have still been a bit of water in it from the boiling coming up Brown Mountain,so that ended well. Made it to Tumut this afternoon, still about 350km from Shep, so should easily do Greens by Friday.Brakes got a bit hot coming down out of the Ranges.
Frog, you are not heading south are you, like to Wagga,we will be through there tomorow.
I was only going to stay until Monday BUT that has changed after spending my first night with great company around a camp fire, something I have not done since 19 or 20.
WOW, this is great, I am set up and will have to get the Gene going as soon as everyone are up and about, I don't feel bad about that as everyone here seems to run them later in the day but as I don't have solar so I will need to run mine longer, I can't see it being a problem though. I will look at solar as well for next time.
Brian, Mr Briche is going to have a quick look at the 12 volt system in the Avan today but they want to go out so that can be done at anytime.
Few! this is hard work.

Hi Judebrue. Greens Lake is west of Shepparton off the Midlands Hwy. it's between Stanhope and Elmore about 50 Kms or so.
It's A great place with plenty of space right on the water. I guess it gets busy during holiday time but that's the way it's. There basic toilets and I mean basic. There is no water on tap or power. But in spite of all that it's great as I said. If you are fitted out with sola panels, generator you will cope. You can get water and hot showers nearby but I can't remember just where the town is but someone may know hat info for you.
Hope that helps
briche

Hi,
Yes the Lake does get very popular during holiday periods (and good weather) and can be a very busy place at times. The rubbish dump bin proves that as we regullarly see it over flowing. Agree with Briche, the public toilets are very ordinary and most times disgusting.
Being a mostly unpatrolled area the dangerous thing is the used camp fires at waters edge where campers have discarded bottles and cans into the flames to explode or melt. As the lake is part of an irrigation system it can rise and fall, exposing or concealing areas of previous campfires littered with sharp broken glass for the unwary to cut feet on when in the water.
The showers are at the Girgarre Town Park 22km away (thru Stanhope). Key is avaiable at Post office. ref CAW 474.
Overall Greens Lake is a great spot in our local area.

Greens is very basic but I think that is the beauty of it all. Back to nature, gives you the feeling of such serenity. To wake up in the morning, open the door sitting in bed with a cuppa with the water only feet away and not a care in the world. Who cares if the toilets are not to write home about, it saves on your own loo for day time use and I have even cleaned the toilets up myself when there and supplied toilet rolls. It doesn't hurt once in a while to give something back. Last year they guys in our group even took hoses up and hosed them out.
I definitely want to be there NYE. Yes the holdiays get a bit crowded. In fact last NYE the estimate was about 2,000. But it was magic.
We are all a bit spoiled these days - remember the old days of camping - basic tent, ice boxes, portable gas stove, or open fire for cooking, toilet - take a shovel, dig a hole away from the camp area, cover it in, burn your toilet paper. Showers - a "pommy wash" every day, and that is what we all had!!!
It is a luxury to have flushing toilets, and a tap for water - for washing, dishes etc.

Hi Kiwi's,
At the moment we are at a place called Ariah Park - camps 5 #961 - absolutely beautiful, a lady called toots comes around every couple of days and hands out show bags for the area. Were not far from Wagga but we are resting here for a couple of weeks, give the good lady a chance to rest up, been a bit much for her lately. We are heading south, but slowly, somewhere we will catch up, one just never knows what is planned. We had been here at Ariah Park for only one day when a motor home pulled in next to us and it was a chap I served with in the Navy and I hadn't seen him for 26 years, and cheryl, my wife, had worked with his wife - unbelievable. Take care everyone happy travels.
