It is a good app and on android as well. I have added a number of sites to it during my recent trip to Cape Trib.
Another good app is Campin which has just been made free on both ipad and android.

I purchased a couple of days ago and it wont work. Have reported it but have had no response so not sure if it is a dead site now or there is a fault with my phone.

Comes up with an error "process has stopped un-expectedly. please try again". Have tried many times of the last few days with no response.

Any one else having these problems ??

Regards
Brian

It's a ripper of an App. and I am finding it better than Camps 6. Will be using it allot more in the future. Love it's adaptability. It's great that you don't need WiFi for it to operate. It's put into my IPad's memory. 28/01/2013.

I HAVE BEEN VIEWING THE YOUTUBE tutorials to find out more about how to use WIKICAMPS.

I'm now a better user & added a new off road pullover site to the Bylong Way in NSW. THIS APP HAS UNLIMITED POTENTIAL & THE CHAT MENU OFFERS HELP & OTHER THINGS USERS ARE WANTING ON THE APP. LIKE POI BUTTON.

I HAVE ALREADY SWITCHED FROM CAMPS TO WIKICAMPS. SO, MUCH BETTER. AND THE OFF-LINE FEATURE ALLOWS IT TO BE USED LIKE A BOOK FROM YOUR VEHICLE.

Thanks Janette, there are that many new sites popping up these days it is hard to keep track of them all, I just stick to the ones I like (eg; The Grey Nomads etc).

Any luck with loading Wikicamps yet Brian ?

Brian. googled the problem and seems to be the android phone problem, rather than the app. No expert here but there are some suggestions about phone settings if you google the prob. Don't know if they work. Good luck, I will download myself when I get my new phone.

Yep it was a problem with the app.

I did a new download and it all worked.

Have not spent a lot of time on it as I am busy with other things.

Still a bit worried putting any of your special sites on things such as this as it will then be available to all.

Ok for recognized sites that are used regularly bit if you find or get told a secret site then perhaps leave it as that. I do.

I copy all the suggestions from forums into a spreadsheet which I convert to a file for my GPS as I find the co-ordinates, but that is for my use and would never add it to a website etc.

Regards
Brian

Glad you got it sorted Brian, I had trouble recently downloading Camps 6 online to my Garmin GPS, turned out to be a faulty download, I was sent another and it loaded immediately......all good now!

(The download was from the Camps 6 website, cost $20 I think from memory).

I just downloaded it and love it. Can anyone tell me if you put it on a tablet as well as phone, do you have to purchase it twice?

My guess would be you pay twice, I could be wrong.

When it comes to the new tech like apps. I afraid I am from the old school.

You know 1+1 = 2        2+2 = 4   A like an apple     B like a Bat.

Maybe I will come into the modern age before I depart this good earth.

At least I can tap dance around a computer after years of learning????

I reckon it will wipe Camps, "off the map", so to speak. I have not used camps now in 18 months. And Wikicamps just keeps on getting better with each free upgrade. Wish the would add multiple location pins though.

It even has hostels in it now. The first time I came across a camp that was not listed was at Gosford Grey Hound track, yesterday. So, I added it in after staying. Its that simple. Its 'GOOGLE' for Grey Nomads travelling Oz.

We have now added house sitting to our nomadic repertoire. We started using Aussiehousesitters & had our first sit, covering a month, at The Barn, in Coonabarabran. The weather was Goldilocks like. Sunny days, every day for a whole month.

I agree brickies. I bought the book a few years ago and never used it much. Being a techno person, I'd love to try the electronic version of the  camps book, but it's expensive and Wikicamps is fast catching up. Plus the user comments and photos give added info, even tho clearly everyone likes different things. Made me laugh when I read the comments about O'connell river - 1st comment "There's nothing here!"  Next comment, "that's right, nothing but trees, shade, mown grass and a river". I loved it there by the way.
