Hi All,

Just wondering how many of you use water filtration devices and if so, any brands you would recommend? Currently we have nothing set up but think it would be worthwhile.

I use a filter jug for drinking water to be safe but use the BEST brand to fill the tank.

Hi Helen,
Sorry in advance as I can't quite remember the brand, sureflow, highflow or the likes. Got on the net from Australian company, I think it was Clarence Water Filters. We had two on the rear of the van, first filter was White and around 30 microns, second was charcoal and around 5 microns from there into tanks and a .5 micron filter under the sink for drinking water. We also had a submersible pump and our Honda genny.
We could pull up to a flowing waterway, drop in the pump and start genny. The hose from pump went to the filters on rear of van and via short hose to tanks, voila! Filtered water, we never ran out. Hope this helps
Re cost, the filters on the back came in at below $150, the pump was around $150 also. With this set up we were not so dependant on parks or taps. No always able to do this but it worked for us on many occasions.

Hi Helen,

I have been using a in-line filter and got it from Super Cheap Auto and I have seen them in BCF.

I picked up a better one though from the CV Show in Batemans Bay the other day and is a In-line RV Filter and so easy to set up. See below.

cheapest place tp buy filters would be an irrigation out fit, i use 2 filter one is down to .5 micron the other is a charcoal one i use them in line from tap to van .5 micron first a few snap on fittings all good all done for under $100 i would think ,caravan shops will charge like a wounded bull for it

We are not too worried about the perceived need to filter tap water, so its not a big issue for us.

However, we have installed an 'on tap' filter that we use for tea or coffee making and general drinking.

The brand that we chose was the 'Instapure'. Much cheaper than the market leader but claims to do an equivalent job. Not as readily available as some. I keep an eye out at places like Big W and pick up a supply of cartriges when I find them.
