I'm now at Port Fairy, Vic.

Well actually at Killarney Beach Camping Reserve CAW 6 #583, just a little north of Port Fairy.

This is a pretty good camp for $20 per night... power, showers, toilets, free washing machine. The Amenities aren't as clean as they could be, but as long as you take the usual precautions...thongs in the shower, wipe out the machine before using...it's passable. Better than CP fees anyway.

We got away from Mount Gambier a bit too late in the morning yesterday, due to bil talking to other nomads......so we didn't get very far at all.

We had a look at Port McDonnell, then continued on towards Portland. We decided to go to Cape Bridgewater before Portland, and find somewhere to pull up for the night. We also wanted to see the blowhole, petrified forest, and hopefully some seals.

Someone on here, not sure who it was, said you can free camp beside the cafe. Maybe you could with a campervan, but not with 2 vehicles and 2 caravans. Anyway they told us that we may get into this spot up the road that's a school camp, but as it was the weekend, we may get in. Well, no-one was there and no-one answered the phone, so that's when we decided to go further along and see the sights...no blow because the tide was low, no seals, but spectacular coastline anyway...But it was getting late and we just decided to stay there in the carpark for the night. Probably not allowed, but we did it anyway.

We took of earli-ish this morning before we could get caught!

So today we've had a look around Portland, took a tram ride and came on through to here. Tomorrow we'll drive into Port Fairy in sis & bils car and stay tomrrow night here too.

Sorry, I'll have another go at loading this picture of our stopover last night, under the wind turbines.

Sounds like a good run today Beth. You are seeing plenty of sights and sneaking in where you may not meant to be, but who cares. Just tell them you were too tired to go any further. You will move on when you are rested in the morning.

Superb way of thinking when all is in doubt...

Hope you had the opportunity to see atleast one whale frollicking around Portland, usually in the Bridgewater bay area.

Great for some leisure time fishing off that long breakwater at Portland. Nice to drive its length and chat with folks fishing.

Plenty of power there that's for sure Beth, just plug into the bottom of a wind turbine. As a bonus you could hang that washing you did in the free machine behind the WT and it would dry it for free, sounds a good place. You will love the Great Ocean Road all the way if you are hugging the coast road.

That's what I told bil Marj! if anyone comes along, just tell them we were too tired to go any further. biggrin

Sadly we missed seeing any whales Ole Grizzly. We had a good look around Portland, we liked it there.

Yes, the coastline has been just awesome Doug, and we haven't even started the Great ocean Road!

Today we had did a bit of Xmas shopping in Port Fairy, and had a good look around. There's some lovely little gift shops here.

We also went out to Tower Hill. That was amazing. After learning all about volcanos at 'Main Corner', I think it's called, in Mount Gambier, we were full of knowledge about Tower Hill being an extinct volcano and all the basalt along the coast around here, where the lava flow came down to the ocean.

We had washing hanging everywhere  our 2 caravans today. Looked like a chinese laundry. But thanks to a lovely sunny day, it was all dry when we got home for our touring.

This is looking down over the crater of Tower Hill.
