Just home today, after 2 full weeks in Hospital with Pneumonia. And I had the Vaccination for it last year, so that won't neccessarily stop you getting it. Possibly makes it less severe though. At least for the last week I had free TV at Yeppoon Hospital. [ First week was at Rocky Base.]
Been waiting since Monday to come home, [ they let me home for 2 hours, to see how I'd cope.] but they won't let you out at Yeppoon, 'till they're sure you're really well enough to go. Good to be back, but I had over 290 e-mails to clear, and that took about an hour of the Home-time up.
Started with a scratchy throat, then a blocked nose, and gradually went downhill from there. Got a lot of catching up to do on things here now.
Sounds like you are back to your normal cheerful self Sheba, hope so anyway. 2 weeks is a long time, you poor thing. Take it easy now and don 't go overdoing anything or you will end up back in there.
Geez Sheba, that sounds serious! The Yeppoon hosp sounds really caring, I've known of people sent home regardless, to an empty house. So glad you are back with us again!
Thank you GD. Overdid it a bit today, so I'll make sure I take it in easy stages from now on. Dr. did say it would take 6-7 weeks to get back to normal. Gotta get fit so I can start travelling.
Other half is in RNSH (Royal North Shore Hospital). The nurses are taking RSV very seriously at the moment. They said it is everywhere & it's a pretty bad version. I have had to wear a N95 mask (first), plastic disposable gown (second), gloves (third) & face shield in some instances (fourth). A sauna at the very least. I have told the lovely nurses,I don't know how you cope all day. I broke a few gloves, changing with wet hands, N95 mask was killing me & Plato's gown was sticking to me like cling wrap. Mask steamed up & became a potential trip hazard.
To date we have each never had Covid, at least not that we are aware of. I was sick a week earlier with RSV, didn't get a single minute of sleep for 3 nights (I can cope, not mentally stressed in these situations), coughing my guts out. Did regular steam inhalation a few times a day over a bucket with towel over my head. Couldn't not believe how much comes out of sinuses. Gave my a lot of relief, even though it was relatively short lived.
Treat RSV like Covid, wear mask, get in & out of shops quickly & in quiet times. Just not worth it
RNSH has single packet Covid tests at the entrance & are encouraging everyone to take them. I have taken a lot & been handing them out to residents in our block of units.
Sanitize your hands on either side of all doors.
All easy stuff to minimise risk for oneself, family & the community.
To add to the risk of the situation. She had a viral infection, but due to her compromised situation, it is possible that you get a bacterial infection, as she has.
Please be very careful out there.

This extended cold weather has been a bit much. Unfortunately all our electricity bills are going to at insult to injury. Not much more we can do to reduce heat loss in our building. There are a lot of people who will find it very tough, & as a result a percentage of then will end up in hospital, or worse.
Tip: A Sigg aluminium water bottle in thick woollen sock makes a long term hot water bottle that never leaks.

Glad to hear you're finally back home and on the mend. At least you got some free TV at Yeppoon Hospital, right? Take it easy and don't stress too much about catching up on everything. Health comes first!
