Misuse Of Emergency Beacons

I saw this on another forum, some blatant misuse here;

I have an Epirb on my boat, But it is the last thing you set off as your boat sinks, It does carry big fines for setting them off for no legitimate reason,

They are their to save your neck in an emergency, Not because you have run out of fuel or got bogged, or some other trivial break down,

While the emergency services are responding to a hoax or trivial matter, A person can die because all the services are out chasing These trivial thoughtless persons setting them off for no real reason,

I think part of the issue is the lack of self rescue and self reliance skills, which is more about attitude than teachable skills.
Just ask any emergency service person how many times they have been called out because someone cut their finger on the baked beans tin.
Some people have an unrealistic expectation (and over inflated entitlement expectation) of government and non government support, from welfare to health care.

I say bring on the zombie apocalypse, that will enforce Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest, and filter the human gene pool.

 Well said Oxley, and combine that with personal responsibility which many seem to lack these days, preferring to blame everyon but themselves.

Not too sure about a zombie apocalypse though, the thugs and their weapons would take over by force, killing all those who oppose them, get our point though!
