I ran into a lady in WA who had travelled to WA in a Hyundai from Qld, she was roughly the same age.
The dogs will really restrict what caravan parks and national parks (some) she stays in though, but they are around.
This lady had bought a stick on shelter from BCF for her car, velcroed fly screen to the rear and side openings, put a single cot across the passenger side of the car over the laid down seat, had a small gas and also electric stove, table and chair for outside cooking/relaxing etc and also a laptop.
She seemed very happy, but no dogs to worry about. See shots attached.
Will she be carrying a laptop? That would help with Badgers C/P reports, but Camps 6 and their sister publication Caravan Parks will give her all the info she needs about what camps/caravan parks allow dogs etc, there is also a separate publication on dog friendly places she can buy from camping stores/RAC etc (RAC/NRMA also sell Camps 6 discounted for members).
With the number of people on the RV trails these days it is pretty safe as many of the fems on this forum will tell you, just take normal precautions, try to camp where others are too, and in some areas not too close to town unless in a caravan park......
If her heart is set on doing it I say go for it, things have a habit of falling into place!
My friends sister is doing just that, She has rented out her house and bought a Toyota and a pop top and should be off up the east coast of OZ in the next week or two, On her own with her to little dogs, She's about 53 I believe,
Sorry, Its a Jayco, Penguin, Pop top Caravan, The Toyota is a one and a half cab and a tray unit,

We have a friend in her fifties who is doing the grey nomad trip in just a car. Has set her back seat up as her bed. She's been gone since May. Stays mostly in CPs for safety. Has her computer with her and sends out news and pics. She's been through Longreach, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Uluru, Kings Canyon etc , Coober Pedy, Port Augusta and now in Flinders Ranges. She's having a ball. It can be done.
