Landrover Discovery TD 5

Does anyone know anything about Landrover Discovery TD 5 for towing a van weighing 1900ks loaded.  Dont see too many of them on the road, its either Toyota, Nissan for the bigger vans.

Gday...

Apart from those on here who can assist ... try this forum - http://www.aulro.com/afvb/

There will definitely be owners who can advise.

Cheers - John

Got one. There is also 2 more within 20 meters of my van atm. All 3 are towing 18 foot plus vans, mine being the biggest at 23.5 foot. Mine is chipped and running diesel gas. Very comfy tow vehicle with good visability. Cant fault mine to date (maybe the cost of tyres for 18 inch rims, will be putting 16 inch tims back on). the aulro site is wealth of knowlege
cheers

Many thanks for your reply,

Ive had a look at that site, some are concerned with the cost of parts and repairs, has that concerned yourselves and some say TD5 is a bit sluggish towing. Have you found that ?

We have a new Avan Liam and currently using a Kia Sorento V6 so the cost of fuel is why we are looking at a diesel.

Cheers

Peter

Gday...

I have the Discovery3 TDV6 auto. I find scheduled servicing is no dearer than anything I have owned before - HiLuxs, Landcruisers and a Hyundai Terracan. Having said, like all models of 4X4 with a build date later than 2006, non-scheduled repairs can be expensive, and parts not usually held at the dealer - read wait to be fixed.

My Discovery has now done 126,000km - 58,000km of that with me, towing my van. It has never stopped me on the road, and the longest I had to wait was for a replacement air compressor for the electronic air suspension - 4 days.

However, I have no experience with the TD5.

Cheers - John
