Monty

My daughter has a little dog called Monty who is 18 years old.  Unfortunately tomorrow she is having him put to sleep because he is now weeing blood and eating very little.  I will be there with her and for her.

I know he's had a good innings, and it's the best thing for him, but we're all very sad that it's come to the end.  He has been a much loved family member since she was 12.

That on top of already grieving for my son and her brother who's first death anniversary was Monday.

Very sad time for us at the moment cry

Hello sucastja.

I am new To this forum but felt compelled to send you a message after reading your entry.

Last year at this time I lost my little dog Mickey after 14 years, and I thought my heart would break. She was my shadow and protector and after she was gone I was lost for a long time. I know how you are feeling tonight and I know how brave and loving you are to do what must be done tomorrow. I feel my little mate around me all the time, especially when things are tough and I have come to learn what you no doubt already know. Love never leaves - it is eternal and unchanging.

Wishing you better days ahead - Ella

Our thoughts are with you today, take care, lots of love

Thank you. The pain is all over for Monty now. My daughter is devastated but knows she's done the right thing for him.

I know how she feels Sue. I went through the same when I had Mindy put to sleep. I felt so guilty and missed her so much and still do. She was 17 years and that was 3 years ago.
I had no choice in the end, although she was nearly blind and deaf, had a heart condition, she was still a goer. Until she started weeing in her sleep, usually on my bed. lol
I wanted her to go with some dignity, and when the time came I bawled for days.

Know how you feel. We love our pets like our own children. Today we also put down a 35 y.o horse we have for a very long time.
The memories keep flooding back, as i think of shows and events my daughter took him to.
Our sole remaining horse is still pacing the fence and calling for him. I feel like going into the paddock and giving her a cuddle.

Pets are amazing creatures. They are faithful and true to their owners. We have had several dogs over the years and as we lost each one we swore we wouldn't have another one. Our latest doggie is a Jack Russell and of course we love him dearly. Pets add so much to our lives, they love unconditionally and faithfully.
