One small step- Rip Neil Armstrong

smile  Nice thought on the avatar Milo !! I to remember the walk on the moon, I was working as a salesman/driver for a furniture retailer in Footscray Vic at the time,And was making a delivery of a very expensive lounge suite, that was imported from Italy, When I arrived at the house the owner said Quick come on in Niel Armstrong is about to walk on the Moon.

Well from the time i entered the house, to the to the time Niel finally stepped of Apollo, it was about one and a half hours, my boss rang up to see if i had been there yet, the guy said yes and i was still there watching the moonwalk, boss was not happy, But the customer said that this is an historic event in everyones life, and if he could not understand that, then we can leave the lounge on the truck and he could stick-it, Boss then understood and there was no reprecussions, so i will always remember where i was at that Historic time .smile

I think I was 15 and in grade 9 at Townsville high school , and teacher stopped class to watch the moon landing. I think Niel Armstrong was a hero to all. RIP. Bill

I spent my early childhood In Woomera SA and Carnarvon WA where my father worked on the tracking stations. He was involved with the moon landing missions and other missions and even has some melted done spaceship material which has flown around the moon!

I have fantastic memories playing around the tracking station, including the big telescopes. Alan Shepherd (5th man to walk on the moon) visited Carnarvon after his missions and we have photos of me and my sisters meeting him.

Aaah! Lovely memories! I wish I could get back to WA and relive a few!
