Have stayed here a few times. Only issue we have is after rain it can become sloppy and depending on the ammount of rain surface water. There are showers (pay) at the servo.
Confirm, confirm, confirm......also note 6 mile creek near Matilda is good with toilets & showers.
Matilda Servo has hot/cold showers available for $3 ph....food is also good.
Only 1 CP in town and now under new management who are trying hard to help.......most sites ok for smaller vans, a mate & I got the only large sites to handle 22-25 van or larger motorhomes.
Recently, we stayed at Matilda Roadhouse and it is great...free...but pay for showers. I did have a close encounter coming out on the dirt road on the first bend, turning left. My left rear wheel went over the edge (1ft) but I managed to keep momentum. The 2 boulders on the corner are close together and I think it is to deter big rigs. I have a 40ft coach and I am sure, previously it was not so narrow. If you have a big rig, park up in the carpark and walk down to check first, as it is difficult to judge because the boulders are so close to the turn. Safe travels.

I stayed at this one on the way north from Brisbane and I think it's great. A comfortable safe camp that's free, and a good hot shower at a very reasonable price. There are comments on Wiki camps that it smells bad and the birds make a lot of noise! But the only smell I noticed was the goose and duck poop (smelled worse things) and the ''bird'' noises at night was a few squabbling bats! I've certainly added it to my list of places to stay when you need an overnighter and a shower. Oh, and the fuel was the cheapest north of Brisbane.

I stayed here last night. It has recently been sold and is now Puma. Nothing else has changed. I stayed in the first spot on the edge of the ponds. A huge amount of bird life and turtles.
Great amenities.
