I have a mate who needs to replace the tyres on his 2002 Disco. He has asked me to help him in his research for a suitable replacement set. The size is 255/55/R18. He has been advised that Coopers and BFGs are unavailable in this size.
He has been recommended (by the various tyre dealers) Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Hanc0ck (Hancook?) and Tubby (?) (no, I've not heard of them either!)
I'd be interested in any comments.

Go to this site - http://www.aulro.com/afvb/ and use the search function for the model/year of his Disco. Failing that he will get an answer of what others are using by asking the pertinent questions.
Cheers - John

I have thw same rims and decided today that I am going back to 16 inch rims, dont feel like paying $500 a corner for a at tyre that seem like hens teeth to get. cheers blaze
Thanks for the replies so far, when a few more come in I'll pass them on to him along with the suggested website. He has a set of steel rims (I think 15 inch with a higher profile so similar rolling radius) that he has been using but these too need a new set so he may look at this option too.
Re the Mickey Thompsons...A few years back we were both on a tag-along to the Flinders Ranges and one of the other participants had a bad run out of a set of MTs so I get the impression he's a little "iffy" about them. It may have just been a bad batch at the time but "once bitten, twice shy".
I use Goodyear kevlar belted wanglers and have done for a few years now. Me and my big mouth, havent had a punture as yet, and this is my second set...
Bob....
