Seems that the propensity to carry weapons is gaining ground and it doesn't help that the courts are not reflecting the wishes of society in sentencing if offenders do get to court.

It also doesn't help that it costs so much to keep someone in jail. maybe they ought to look at reducing the conditions in jail to keep costs down and sending more to jail under tougher conditions.

Wouldn't you like 24 hour medical ,dental, optical care in airconditioned comfort with TV and sports facilities.

Doesn't that American Sherrif have the right idea,he's kept costs down and even kept recidivism down. They don't want to go back if it's hard.

Same all over Oz Milo, WA is in the same boat as elsewhere, nobody has any respect for anyone anymore, and I think a lot of it is related to drugs and the drug induced mentality.......

Could'nt agree more, ?? Duh, Society is managed by the $$$$, and Goverments listening and fearing the Minortity Groups, and Civil Liberterians, who are small in number But extremely loud and organised in Media Saturation, IF ONLY the SILENT MAJORITIES VOICE could be heard ?? Or we had a goverment leader with the Itelligence to listen to the people, Sure ??? If he stood up to what is fair and decent for All, the Minority groups and Civil/Libs, would make the usual racket ?? but If they took it to an Election > MAJORITY WOULD RULE ??

The voice of the Majority, is strong and powerful, WHEN IT IS HEARD ??  I am old enough to remember, all the Hooo Haaaa That went on during the Vietnam War, The goverment was making decisions for years that THE PEOPLE DID NOT WANT, and when they had finally said Enough is Enough, and held that MASSIVE MORATORIUM DEMONSTRATION IN Melbourne IT was 100s of thousands of normal people Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Uncle's, Aunties, People from all walks of life, The message was clear, the goverment knew to Ignore the people now??would be fatal. So they bought our boys home,     You know what I believe that the vast majority of Australians feel this way again now, and are getting More and More Angry, at watching the very fabric of our Society being washed down the Gurgler ??/

Sorry for the rant and rave, But, Hard day at work, furious and now a hard evening packing to move housefurious, I had to Vent Somewhere, I feel better now .  dazren hmmbiggrinevileyehmm

Gday...

Unfortunately, most cities, even large country towns, have violence problems - especially Friday and Saturday nights. Alcohol and drug induced unfortunately. One of the many reasons I stay in small inland towns and even then I usually stay on the fringes of those too biggrin

It is interesting to note that most of these violent attacks that involve a 'weapon' are usually knives, machetees, bottles, glass, baseball bats, hammers etc. Banning guns seems to have driven the dorks to use other 'weapons'. Guns seem to still be the weapon of choice for 'criminals' however.

Cheers - John

That is one of the main reasons officers leave the police service in Qld is because they are completely disillusioned about the law.  They fight and struggle to get grubs locked up and the lawyers get them off, so they end up shrugging their shoulders and saying why bother.  Crime is crime.  I also think jaols today are far to ritzy which is probably why they are always overloaded nobody wants to go or they are recividist offenders because they love it in there.  Where else can you get a uni degree etc and stay healthy and fit for free as a reward for committing crimes?

Definitely an ungrateful population Vic.  Why do we always put ourselves into situations that do not concern us?

What peeves me is Our young blokes & girls are there trying to help their country and their fit, healthy young blokes are coming here in droves on boats to bludge on our country.

Can't argue with that Michelle and Delta, I can see the same thing happening as Vietnam, what a waste of lives that was on all sides...
