Forum Snipers...

Not suggesting that anyone on this forum would do such a thing, but has anyone noticed on other forums that these "Forum Snipers" never make a thread of their own, but seem to get their jollies out of tearing someone else's thread to pieces.

Some are trolls who just go from forum to forum causing havoc, but some are also those who don't seem to be able to think for themselves and make their own thread but take delight in ruining others by disruptive posts.   I don't mean just simply different opinions but just sniping for the sake of sniping.   Thankfully we don't seem to have this problem here.

G'day Vic,

I think if they started that nonsense here they would be "outed" pretty quick.

They really do cause a furore on some forums I am subscribed to and there is no need for that sort of behaviour.

I have often wondered if the internet would be a very different "place" if there was no anonymity. If you could only sign up using your real name and had to prove who you were there would be no more hiding behind some weird screen names.

just a thought because it will probably never happen now.

It would be good if you had to provide correct names and claim your own posts, however on the other side of the coin there Are too many, for want of a better more accurate name, Kooks out there who take offence at any opinion other than their own.

Such is life, we don't have to join them,we can keep our own moral and ethical standards high.

Trevor

Real name.

Yes you have raised some good points there thanks Trevor and Frank.

One forum I won't name is not visited by some and many are put off posting because of attacks on posts they make and often themselves, and I can't blame them.  It is hard enought trying to get people to post without others discouraging them.

Thankfully, even that one has good moderators that step in and either lock the thread or give the offenders warnings, or delete their membership if they persist.

Some places like Facebook etc can be just dam spiteful at times.

Regards

To be honest I find this forum very refreshing and super friendly.  I have not even bothered to look for other like forums I couldn't care less for them. When you find the right one you stick with it and I think I have found the right one.

There have been times when we've had some trouble makers, as I call them, but they've either been kicked off or gone of their own accord.

All seems to have settled lately thank goodness.

I used to post on the two major forums now do no post on either.

This forum is a lot more friendly and is more for travelers or future travelers and not for people blowing their bags ar looking for something they can nit pick.

I restrict my posting because I feel if I can add something positive then best to not post and if my thoughts are different then I keep my thoughts to myself.

I prefer to read about where the people have been and what is available in our great country and leave the techi stuff to the others.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Regards
Brian (also my real name)

Have not even looked at other forums. I have found this site to be wonderfully friendly, informative and encouraging. Like you Michelle, I have not even bothered to really look at others. I did join the Winnebago site to ask a question about a specific MH, received great friendly answers, however there did not seem to be the traffic or discussions as there is on here so have not bothered since. Mainly because I have not felt the need to do so, get all the info from this one.
All I can say is keep up the good work everyone.

Sharon ( my real name, well middle name, real name is Patricia) That is another thread for I Digress I think.

Keep having fun everyone.

Sharon/Patricia that sounds intriguing. confuse

I've looked at other forums too, and joined a couple, but I've not kept up with them. Everything I need/want is right here. And I made some good friends here too. Some I've met, and some I'm yet to meet.

Beth - actually, my birth name is Elizabeth, but I only use that for official stuff or someone might call me that to get my attention. biggrin

Well, I do visit one other forum occasionally, but I'm here every day, sometimes twice.

I like it here, for some god knows why reason. Maybe because its like a happy hour chat- sometimes serious, mostly light hearted, the topic ebbs and flows, and no one owns it all. If they don't like you they ignore you, and if you are being obnoxious (present company excluded) or don't like it, go back to your own van.

You can learn a lot if you want to, sometimes just by keeping quiet and lurking round the edges, but it works well if you have something to share.

Like happy hour, not everyone is perfectly behaved, and for that we have the naughty corner- although its not well used of late I notice.

Like Rosie says there is some good info on some other forums if you sort out the chaff from the wheat.....wink
