Because the call cost them money, I play along with them until I can't anymore, then tell them I have somone at the door and leave the phone off the hook, come back a bit later and they are gone.
A male I know does this, if the caller is a girl, he tells them he loves Asian women and are they interested in having sex with him, or if the caller is a bloke he tells them he is gay and loves Asian men, and are they interested in having sex with him.......they hang up very quickly! lol !

Only way to get rid of them is to hang up. But it doesn't stop them - had one who actually abused me, when I told him I didn't believe he was from Big Pond!!!!!! An ethnic sounding gent - so rude!!

Yes had a few of those Milo. They usually say that there is a problem with Windows, I usually tell them I have an Apple and they hang up quickly .....little white lie.

If they ring you about problems with windows, tell them you have one sticking window, and another with a broken pane. And ask if they could come out and give you a quote.

Unfortunately their calls are by VOIP (over internet) and therefore basically cost them nothing except a bit of time wasted. They are on to the "someone at the door" trick and hang up pretty quickly.
We all use VOIP to save some money don't we? Our calls to any landline in Oz from home cost us 10c Untimed and no connection fee.
Cheers Neil

Then I suppose it has backfired on you and you'd better get off the line real quick ! LOL !
Thanks for the info on the calls Neil, I won't waste my time dragging the call out then. I would imagine just leaving the phone off the hook would be in the same category as saying you're going to the door. I suppose after they have had a number of these they would wake up to the ploys people use to keep them hanging on.
Ha Ha.....what a hoot that was, even got the so called "supervisor"on the phone.
I tried something similar (playing them along), got up the stage where they said "what can you see", I wasn't on my pc either, so strung them along a bit about not being sure what I was supposed to see, but eventually got sick of their scam and told them what a load of bollicks it was and hung up.
What I want to know is how they find me on my mobile when I'm not listed anywhere. I suspect other sites sell my info on to other organisations who then proceed to waste my time with these boring calls. More offensive are the scam calls. Stay aware folks. If you don't know the caller or haven't requested the contact, shut them down. It's very hard to maintain privacy or anonymity these days, but do your best.
