Till I am in Townsville, yippeeeee. Can't wait to get away from this cold weather for a week.
I am going to make the very first step to retiring full time Friday morning when I see my tax man. I am going to ask him to explain his comment to me last year in more detail about now I am 60 I can retire.
My boss and I had a chat this morning and I said I would like to cut down on the hours a bit more so I can get some travel in, she said no probs as she is about to advertise for another driver. Then this afternoon she informed me she has just purchased another bus and bus run, that will come with a driver who is willing to help out a little more.
I think I can see retirement down the end of the tunnel, just a speck at the moment but it's down there.

That's great Doug, sounds like the boss needs you more than you need her ?? so i think she would be happy just to keep you as needed ?? so until you do retire It could be good for both of you ?? Good luck with your meeting your tax man. you say retirement is only '' a speck'' at the moment ??
but what is that Ad on Tele !
''From Little Things Big Things Grow''
I also have just finalised my discussions, and it looks like another 18 months of work, then I take 3 months long service leave, then come back and re-sign. I only work for a 2 man company, and the owner is also considering retiring ?? if he decides to go first ?? I can live with that [ gladly]
You have a great trip away in Townsville, [ ya lucky bugger ] and enjoy the warmth, Geez you and wombat both away at the same time, Bugger who am i gunna pick a fight with now

Michelle !!! I would never pick on you ?? we're Mates. So maybe while Doug and wombat are away, maybe we will just do a defensive plan of attack for when they return,
That sounds great Doug, I retired on the 29th June end of school term, I used to drive for Grenda's, did a bit of coach work but mainly my school run. It is amazing how much you can get involved with your students, when you have them from year 6 to year 12 and watch them mature, on days they can drive you mad but on others you just love being around them, they are so full of energy and so many questions and looking for knowledge. On my last day I had young fellows coming up to me begging me to stay and young ladys crying, it made me feel that yes I had fullfilled some good in there lives. It has only been about 6 weeks since I retired and we have had so much to do in preparation for getting away I don't know how I found time to work. I miss the kids and I miss my bus, loved driving the coaches, so I think I will be looking for some casual work when we get north, according to our financial advisor I can earn $18,000.00 before paying tax.
So go and ask questions Doug, you just might be surprised as to what you can receive, good luck.

I'm not sure if my stress levels will cope with all that Ken. I hope your trip is going OK.
Thanks everyone else, I will be sitting with my accountant this time tomorrow (Friday).
